Manuela — Hotel in Grad Split

Hostel itself is fine - room, kitchen and bathrooms clean. However, I arrived late one evening (due to flight delays). On arrival I whatsapped the owners who told me that the rate was €30 despite it being around €20 on hostel world. They told me that "hostel world" was a scam and to not book it through it. I tried anyway, and whilst doing so, the owners changed the price to over €30. I felt that was unfair, and she stated that she didn't care as it was late, has four children, were tired, and that it's their hostel, and they make the rules. She made assumptions about me and my life stating that "if I had 4 children, I'd understand." Totally unprofessional and unfriendly and rude. I had no other options and so had to pay them €30. She had no sympathy that I'd also been travelling all day and simply wanted to make as much money out of me as possible, given my late arrival. Unpleasant experience, and I would not recommend this place...

We have booked two nights for a private bedroom on hostelworld. When we arrived Paul said our room was booked to somebody else for a longer period. He offered to slip in the kitchen, with no keys. We had to book something else of course, twice expensive for the same night. Paul and Manuela are not running their business fairly, with 3 buildings and up to 30 peoples. They are neither cool or fun but greedy. To mention, Paul reimbursed the cost of the booking but it's not enough regarding what they did : Put a mattress and asked us to sleep in the kitchen. And then cancel the booking on hostelworld so we can not let a comment. Please go to somebody else instead to avoid such a disappointment. On TripAdvisor it seems that Italian guys had quite the same disappointment last year....

I absolutely loved my stay at Hostel Manuela! Manuela and Paul went above and beyond to make me feel welcome, and their kindness and helpfulness were truly exceptional.
