We decided to try this food vendor and ordered the house’s special burger (11,50), a hamburger (10), and two Caesar salads (7,5). As side dishes we chose french fries (3,5) and four Cokes (2,60). The clerk said that we should go for 33 cl instead of 50 cl because they were colder. Then we waited in the noisy, dirty room for a long time to eventually being served the fries. The server said that the burgers were still some time away. Wonder who prefers to eat fries while waiting for their burger. Finally they came as well and now all we needed were the two so-called Caesar salads. Apparently the clerk had to pull them out of a fridge first, so that explains some extra 10 minutes of waiting. Eventually they decided to open the fridge and bring the salads, but not the beverages, which I had to go to the counter to ask if I could retrieve myself which I was graciously allowed. We also had to remind the staff to bring the condiments we had paid for. Now to the description of the food. The fries looked and tasted like those you buy from a supermarket and was lacking salt. The burgers however were so salty, that the Dead Sea would have envied them green, and contained generous amounts of disgusting chunks of gristle. The Caesar salads were coleslaws with some lukewarm, dry chicken filet, and the croutons advertised in the menu were missing. My daughter soon found a hair in her salad, and made the server aware of this. The salad was then replaced after another 5-10 minutes of waiting. The bill was € 62,5 which to us was a bit appalling considering the lack of cleanliness, the waiting time, the food, the hair, and not least the service.
As the owner responds to several complaints: mistakes happen. Yes, they do, but from the many reviews you can see, that the same mistakes are being made again and again. Then they are no longer mistakes but sloppiness and indifference, and the response becomes b.s.

Read moreOld House Street food is simply fantastic!! Raw stone, wood and a touch of gold are the perfect triplet to enrich the already heart warming atmosphere. Their burgers are something out of this world! Fries and onion rings served with cheese are a great complement. Honestly some of the best street food ever experienced. The balance between the different textures and the combination of flavors is truly remarkable. Absolutely a must try when you arrive in Split or before you leave this astonishing city! All the personnel are very friendly and professional. Couldn't help but snap a few photos of the beautiful cooks/waitresses Mia & Mia with their welcoming smile that makes this place even more magical and surely worth a visit! Even famous LA artists are stopping by to enjoy this great food! You definitely cannot miss to eat in this...
Read moreBest burger we’ve ever had! Highly recommend the Old House Burger with truffle sauce (€11). We came here 2 separate times already and will probably even go more during our stay in Split.
Burgers are big, with a lot of toppings. The toppings don’t fall off the burger, it’s a delight to eat. The burger tastes incredibly smokey, just like you would imagine a burger to taste. The smooth truffle sauce really enhances the flavours of the burger meat and cheese. Trust me, try this burger at least once if you visit Split!
One burger is enough for dinner. If you’re really hungry, you can go for a side to share with two people.
Burgers take a bit of time to prepare, but it’s worth the wait!! They seem to be freshly prepared by the staff.
PS: We didn’t take a picture of the burgers themselves because we were too...
