We've just returned from one week stay at Nelia Beach. This is an honest review of the good and not so good aspects of the hotel. | |The negatives: |The pool area is small for a hotel of that size. We did get a sunbed but I can imagine in peak season this would just be too small for the capacity. |The pool bar is open at 10am and serves all the basics. However there are premiums for items such as ice coffee or milkshakes. A milkshake is €5 and was made using the free ice cream you can have at lunch and milk that is also free so I have no idea why they are charging to make it! They also sell other items such as crisps, peanuts, other ice creams and certain cocktails. These aren't cheap either. |Food. I'm really sorry but it's the worst All Inclusive I've had in a hotel in Cyprus. I've visited the island over 15 times and stayed in a variety of hotels over the years so I really don't say this lightly. The snacks you can get from the pool bar are between 10am -12 and 3pm-5. They serve nothing over the lunch period, meaning you have to go into the main restaurant for lunch, which unfortunately was a real disappointment....same with dinner 🙈. |Smoking. If you are a non smoker it is almost impossible to avoid it! Even the corridors smelt of smoke on a morning. With people being permitted to smoke in every outdoor area it's really not nice for non smokers. |Entertainment. I'm so sorry but again it's absolutely shocking. The hotel really has 0 atmosphere. Entertainment is held in the area where people eat dinner so they have to wait until dinner service is over at 9 before they start anything. Even with the entertainment we saw it really wasn't good or only lasted about half hour. Then leaving the rest of the night completely dead. | Accessibility. The toilets for the pool and reception are down two flights of stairs. This may not pose a problem if you are able bodied but I would say if you have mobility issues it's not ideal. Ok there is a lift in reception but the pool loos are a pain to keep going up and down.|Staff. Really sorry but most of the staff, including the cleaners looked really quite unhappy. One or two smiled on occasion but it felt extremely forced. I understand it's nearing the end of season but they didn't seem happy at all. |Positives: |I upgraded the room to a seaview and it was of a good standard. I would definitely recommend upgrading. We had a room for late check out and it basically overlooked the other hotel rooms. I suppose if you are only using it to sleep in then it would be fine but I personally wouldn't have been happy to be looked at and to overlook a whole block of the neighbouring hotel. |The room was cleaned daily but we were left with no loo roll twice and no top up of tea and coffee on 3 occasions. Its not a massive issue but to me pretty basic. |The hotel is ideally located. Right next to the beach and the bars and shops. I think this may explain the cost to stay here. ||All in all we had an ok stay. Nothing more than ok though. Other neighbouring hotels are really a cut above the Nelia Beach and for roughly the same cost. For these reasons we won't be returning next year to this hotel but we have booked it's neighbour hotel...
Read moreThis was mine and my partners' first holiday together and it couldn't have been more perfect. We were here from Oct 3rd-10th so it was still hot but not too busy.
The staff were incredible, extremely helpful, always willing to go above and beyond, super friendly and nice. Especially, I think here name Adrianna behind the desk who helps you plan activities, she was great and helped us whilst we were a bit ill. And Bishal who helped us moved our luggage and with anything basically, he was also great just to chat too. Thank you so much!
We had a suprise on arrival, finding out our room had been upgraded to a suite, and we were both blown away with how beautiful it was. Those who made that happen, thank you so much!
We didn't have any issues with the food, each day was different which was good, think out of the 7 days we were there only 1 day we'd rather go out due to food options dinner time.
The outdoor pool was lovely, the time of year we went meant it wasn't too busy, there were always enough outdoor beds and all was tidy. Right next to the hotel is the beach which we loved, ended up doing a lot of snorkeling finding lots of fishes and crabs. It's also just a 2 minute walk from the town centre too so there's that plus. If you're looking to rent a buggy, we had a great experience renting from the place next door to it as well.
Looking back I think this is more of a family, couples hotel as there were a few hotels around it where they had much more of a party environment, loud music going etc. It was a little more peaceful here, the way it's laid out, you could let your kids have the freedom to play and you'd know they would be fine.
Always different entertainment on each day, we missed most of it but the ones we seen and stayed for were great, break dancing and fire shows.
I couldn't recommend this hotel enough, if you're young looking to get really drunk and party each night there maybe better options but everything else this is the...
Read moreThe Nelia Beach Hotel and Spa is a well presented hotel within easy walking distance of the beach, nightlife and entertainment areas and other local amenities. We had a few issues upon check-in as the reception staff tried downgrading our room due to overbooking but this was sorted after the first day. Rooms are well appointed with comfy beds and reasonable space. We were staying in a superior family room on the first floor, with the terrace a real highlight, the furniture was lovely especially the outdoor cabana bed and views out to sea. The food here is fantastic...ive stayed in 5 star hotels where the food isnt as good as it here. The snack bar is pretty average but the buffet more than makes up for it. The all inclusive is fairly limited...off brand alcohol and soft drinks and only til 11pm but it is sufficient. The pool area, whilst lovely, is way too small for a hotel of this size and a very early start (between 7am and 8am) is needed to secure a sunbed for the day. Sadly some guests were reserving beds then leaving them unused all day which I feel the hotel should monitor better to allow all guests to use the facilities. Cleaning staff were lovely and did a great job however customer service is a little lacking here, not the freindliest. Entertainment on a night was pretty poor and not worth visiting so bear in mind if you are a family that spends evenings in the hotel. Overall a really nice hotel with some excellent facilities...a few tweaks and the hotel could be a real gem. Would I come back? Yes...but at the...
