Thoroughly enjoyed our 7 night stay in this well appointed, adult only hotel . Only 15 mins by taxi from the airport, the staff were friendly, welcoming and extremely helpful. The bedrooms and the public areas are extremely clean. Even the toilets near the pool (which is where most hotels fall down) were kept spotless. The pool is beautiful, and the sunbathing areas are kept clean and tidy. The food is good, with a wide choice in the buffet style restaurant, however there are three other a la carte restaurants in the hotel to choose from. They are either Italian or Mediterranean themed. All restaurants require long trousers for men in the evenings. You have to book the other restaurants (more from an idea numbers, rather than a seat reservation point of view), and for half board customers, it costs an additional 10€ each !
There are a choice of sunbeds either around the pool, in a gardened area, or on the beach. The beach itself is small and a bit steep in places. The hotel fronts onto a small, man made cove, which is shared with a neighbouring hotel. The water is fairly shallow, there is some fine seaweed near the edge, but we brought swim shoes with us, and just waded through it. There is also a pontoon you can walk out onto, and enter the water from there.
We were half board, therefore paid for ice creams and drinks etc, but even then, prices were very reasonable. Be aware that there are varying levels of 'all inclusive' which isn't very well explained by the brochure. For e.g. only the highest level of 'inclusive' allows you free use of the pagoda style beach beds, otherwise its an additional 40€ per day.
We had a great time. Our thing is relaxing in the sun, so in truth, we didn't leave the hotel all week. There's a small mini mart on site, together with spa, indoor pool and gym and hairdressers. Outside there is tennis, bowls and a pool and table tennis table. There's also aqua-robics and yoga classes
Nearest shops are a good 30 minute round walk in the heat, however there's a regular bus service both to them and into Paphos itself.
Overall a great, comfortable holiday. Rooms were lovely, with a nice balcony, and large bathroom and big comfortable beds. Our room faced over the front entrance to the hotel. Others have a view over the pool to the sea. Be aware, half of the 'sea view' rooms are on the side of the hotel that also overlooks a baron area to the side of the hotel (see google maps). There have been lots of comments on review sights about this. Try and get a room with a sea/pool view.
Evening entertainment normally consists of a singer, violinist, or saxophonist. If you're expecting a stage show, you're going to be disappointed.
The aircon is a bit weak, however, we asked for an additional fan, and it was delivered to the room within 15 minutes.
A couple of points that you may want to consider, however, none of them detracted from our overall enjoyment of the holiday.
Sadly, you have to be fairly 'competitive' in the morning to bag the sunbed you want, even in October ! This isn't helped by the hotel not Policing the 'unused towel on the sunbed' brigade.
Most sunbeds spend some of the day in the shade, due to the building line and the palm trees.
On arrival, we weren't offered a welcome drink, or even pointed towards the help yourself water just inside the front doors.
We had to repeatedly ask for the milk in the room to be replenished.
The hotel is kept scrupulously clean, however, some of the decor is starting to look a bit dated. I did read in another review that it's due for a makeover in November, however.
It didn't effect us, but the nearest shops are a bit of a walk away.
'She who must be obeyed' also points out that, although there is a hairdressers on sight, neither this hotel, nor the neighbouring 'sister' hotel offers a manicure / pedicure service.
We'd be happy to...
Read moreWe've recently spent a week here so I thought I'd round up our thoughts.
We've only been here once, stayed in one room on one floor and all the review is just our opinion. Don't make a decision based just on this, read around and get a more holistic view to help you decide.
Our room was a simple double room. A bit tired and dated but clean and mostly well maintained. There are tell-tale signs of wear around the edges in the bathroom and there were one or two dubious stains on the tiles and sealant that need attention. The shower isn't very powerful. We needed to have the soap/shampoo shelf screwed back on to the wall.
The bed was a comfortable queen size (I think). TV is pretty small and our balcony view was out the east side, facing away from the the hotel. Not the best of views but we weren't planning on using it anyway.
Theres an iron, ironing board and safe in the cupboard and a couple of robes and sets of slippers. Plenty of wooden hangers was a nice touch.
Air-con worked fine and the fridge was well stocked (for all inclusive you can have the contents of the fridge but once gone, will not be refilled... At least for us, who were there a week). Its fine though. There were soft drinks, white wine, water etc.
The Marco Polo bar was OK, but was small. There is entertainment there each night and a small dance door but precious few tables/chairs and as a consequence it not very atmospheric. The outside, terrace area, was nice but was lacking in tables for two. Our trip was adult only, so there were many couples and the seats for four and five people are quickly taken up by just two people.
I'll get on to staff later (spoiler: they were great).
We used the main restaurant (Odysseas) for our all inclusive buffet meals. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were all well attended and well catered. The food was excellent, but not so much choice for Vegetarians or Vegans (which we are not). There are a couple of fresh cook stations serving things like steak, or fish each day, a "calvery-type" area that served beef, pork, and gammon amongst other meats. There is plenty of hot buffet choice of meats, fish and veg, plus a well-stocked salad bar. Desserts (gateaux/baclava) , coffee/tea, yogurts, ice cream and bread etc. The food was varied and well cooked. A definite plus.
There are a couple of other restaurants where you can experience a la carte offerings at lunch or dinner. The dinner needs to be booked via the TUI Blu app (which works fine for this and laying out the day's hotel itinerary).
Edit: For some reason, the staff feedback isn't here, but they were great throughout, from Housekeeping to Reception, to waiting and bar staff, all great. Really well done.
The other thing that needs mentioning is the Cypriot night. What a spread! Really well organised, loads of great food, artisan basket weaving, Cypriot coffee and Traditional Cypriot Dancing. A really good evening....
Read moreWe decided to choose an adult only hotel purely for the fact of not having any screaming kids around and wanted entertainment catered for adults.
The only pros of this hotel are that it’s clean, beds are comfortable, hotel right by the beach and kid free.
There are unfortunately more cons which is really disappointing considering tui rated this hotel a high star rate which doesnt reflect.
We got bed and breakfast included and must say the food is beyond average. They have stations for eggs, crepes and omelets. They don’t take into account how you like your eggs even though they ask and still get it wrong every single time, eggs are snotty and rushed. We stayed at the hotel for one of the days to relax so had no choice but to get lunch as there is no restaurants near by. The breakfast buffet is OVER PRICED we would not recommend as they charge an extortionate amount per person for again a very AVERAGE buffet, would not have again. We paid £50 just for two buffets and would have rather saved the money and ate outside the hotel and had a decent meal. The drinks are also over priced. We asked the reception stuff about going to coral bay and asked which routes to take etc. We went there to only waste half of our day travelling there and back as well as wasted money on buses all day, as the staff FAILED to mention coral bay is completely out of action and derelict as theirs construction ongoing so the whole town is a ghost town. Extremely unhappy and disappointed with that considering we are only here for a week and wasted a whole afternoon and evening including our money.
The entertainment is shocking to be honest, the whole hotel vibe is catered for 60+ years old. Extremely unfair and should make it clear on the booking that they do not account for young couples/individuals. We are 25 years old and 99% of the hotel is full of elderly people, so will not be booking this hotel again as we were not told to expect to be in a quiet no lively entertainment hotel. Paid a lot of money for 7 days to HAVE TO go outside the hotel every evening for some liveliness.
Therefore if your a young couple who want to have some fun/lively entertainment and think this is a good idea for an adult only hotel then choose a different hotel. It’s not catered for younger...
