Party Size: Group of 30+
Location: Nestled approximately 20 minutes away from the airport and 10 from both the harbor and downtown Paphos, the establishment has a lovely oceanfront setting. However no swimming beach area. The nearest beach is Sandy Beach, approx 15-minute drive away. The location is not particularly central to the local restaurant and bar scene, and each car ride to and from town costs around 12 Euros.
Security: Upon my check-in, security measures were somewhat lax. Verification was limited to a simple inquiry about my name, with no confirmation of my affiliation with the room my companions had previously occupied. A wristband was handed to me, granting access to the premises. The beachside running track, though excellent, is open to the public, offering direct entry to the sunbathing area and the hotel itself.
Accommodation: A room with sea view was initially reserved, instead I was placed in a different category without any explanation. Through discussions with our travel agent, it became apparent that this issue affected several members of our group. A simple explanation regarding the room change would have been appreciated. We spoke with the Front Desk and they changed the room the following day. Rooms on the lobby floor were notably outdated, whereas our second room was more modern and spacious, complete with contemporary paintings, furnishings, and convenient USB ports for charging. Both had comfortable beds, a/c and were reasonably clean. They also included a sofa bed for added convenience. A coffee maker was provided within the room. The hotel's Wi-Fi coverage was sufficient and consistent. The provision of two bottles of water upon check-in was not replenished during my stay. Self-service ironing facilities were available for guests.
Staff Interactions: Among the staff, Maria from Guest Relations stood out for her genuine warmth and assistance. Leonard from the Front Desk played a key role in facilitating the room change. Many of the staff members seemed unhappy and unaccommodating, a sentiment that was shared by others in my group. An incident at the pool bar highlighted this when the bartenders abruptly closed up for the evening without acknowledging customers.
Dining Experience: My expectations for the culinary offerings were high, but sadly, the food proved to be average and lacking in variety. Given the cost of the hotel, the quality of the food and its ingredients was disappointing. The menu lacked diversity, and the hope of experiencing authentic Greek cuisine was unmet, as the buffet featured the same items day after day. Cocktails were basic and diluted with lower-grade alcohol. A pina colada or bottled water required an extra payment or an upgrade to a premium package. The fruit selection was limited. The children's menu mainly consisted of pizza, frozen nuggets, and fish sticks. The omelet station was notably sparse in terms of vegetable options. Dessert options repeated the same bases on rotation. The specialty restaurants were booked. The Greek specialty restaurant was underwhelming with rude and unfriendly staff, rushed service, and food comparable to the buffet. I urgently sought water at 3 am due to dehydration, the Front Desk informed me that I had to wait until 8 am when the lobby bar would open, it was hard getting water on the property.
*Entertainment *: The kids' club, doubling as a disco, occupied a dim room, closing at midnight. Limited daytime activities and early closures of facilities constrained the vacation experience. With options dwindling early, the lobby area buzzed with noise from the bar and live music.
Public Spaces: The lobby and other shared spaces suffered from excessive heat, necessitating repeated requests to close the lobby doors. Apart from Maria in Guest Service, assistance in this regard was scarce. Public restrooms appeared worn and poorly ventilated.
*Final Impression: The all-inclusive promise was a limited experience. Late check-out - 90 Euros, Late-night taxi to the...
Read moreHaving read fantastic reviews and being our first time in Cyprus, we were excited for our trip to Leonardo Cypria Bay.
Let me just give you a little backstory on our expectations as a family and given my own experiences with the hospitality industry over my 15 year tenure in senior management. We by no means expect everything to be absolutely perfect and we do realise that people (tourists) in general, can be extremely demanding and outright rude!
Nonetheless, please see my honest review…
Upon arrival at the Hotel, we entered Reception and the whole area was well presented. The reception team included 2 people serving about a dozen guests who had just arrived. We were greeted with barely a smile and asked for our surname. We waited a couple of minutes before being handed a paper form and told to fill it out. At this stage not a welcome or explanation of the checking in process.
We then filled the form out and had to wait again to be served for about 10 minutes.
Not a word was said by the receptionist whilst checking the form, and then we were given a key and told that our room was directly above us.
That was literally all that was explained.
Off we went up to our room and opened the door to a stagnant smell and boxy room. 2 beds were put together for me and my wife and both our boys had a sofa bed each all in one small room. The toilet and shower was very dated and closer inspections evidenced a lot of dust and muck on the skirting and the bathroom.
Not to put a dampener on it, we shrugged it off and went ahead to check the hotel out.
I won’t go into exact details for everything else that followed, but let me just say the following which I hope will provide you with an honest, non high expectation and opinion of this hotel.
We hadn’t met a single employee during our stay who actually was willing to explain anything in any detail. Had to work out where to go to get towels etc but this was always explained by short blunt responses.
Pool was small, completely packed everyday and the beach was not accessible because it was far too rocky.
Surrounding area was absolutely beautiful.
Food was great, with lots of diverse dishes and very fresh, but still lacked in great quality but was above expectations. Snack bar and drinks bar always available which was great. Once again, not a single smile or hello from anyone working on the pool bar.
Employees in the bar area in reception did not want to interact. After numerous times of trying to start small talk or ask them how they were, we never got anything back, not even a smile. Made me think that they probably dal with so many rude guests day in day out, given some of the attitude and rudeness we had seen!
Our room was located directly above reception and let me tell you, the noise was horrendous. The reception bar during the late evening was full of people shouting and making noise pretty much until midnight every night. We asked to be moved because of this, and was shown another room which was not much further from that area, but stunk of damp and looked extremely unkempt. I then declined the move, but at no point did the receptionist attempt to apologise, ask for additional information for any of the experiences mentioned.
Also to mention, the shower was leaking from the bottom and constantly soaking the entire bathroom!
Apart from the above, the hotel itself is very dated, overall clean in all front of house areas but lacked anything that made it stand out.
The best customer service and experience we received, was from the captain of the Wave Dancer boat, what a great guy and a great team, highly recommend, but was nothing to do with this hotel.
We will not come back to this hotel again, but found the area absolutely beautiful.
Although the hotel is rated 4 stars, there’s no doubt that there is better out there. For the money they charged us, we definitely felt...
Read moreI don’t even know where to start… I was so disappointed in this hotel, it really did not live up to my expectations.||Pros:|The staff.|The entertainment team- Chichi/Changa and David especially. They are amazing. Fully engaged to their role and they really care about the guests and wanting to give them the best possible experience ever.|The lifeguards are really good in this hotel. They take their job very seriously and it’s great to see. Very reassuring ||Cons:|The restaurant - For an all-inclusive the meals were pretty good, I was very impressed by the selection of food. They have the same dishes/cuisines on the same day each week.|HOWEVER on one occasion they offered chocolate cake with nuts in. The sign for the cake had no nut allergen on display, and the chef confirmed it had nuts and he did not care that the allergen sign did not reflect this. He brushed off that it could serious cause harm to someone. I reported this to management and they informed me they will remove the cake as soon as possible, however I was informed by the guests that this did not happen as they were able to get it. This could kill someone. It is very serious and should not be treated lightly. Funny enough, the same chef that confirmed the cake had nuts also failed to pick out a long hair from the dish, so decided to mix it in. ||2. The rooms are tiny! We are a family of 3 and we struggled to make do in the rooms. We even considered upgrading just for more space but the prices to upgrade are disgusting. I think the hotel inflate the prices because they know families HAVE to pay it. This includes late check out. €120. Outrageous. ||The hotel provide you a courtesy room if your flight is late at night. Usage of a room for 45 minutes. This is not openly shared. But they will tell you about the paid late check out service though. ||3. The guests…|A bunch of northerners who aren’t friendly and have no consideration for anyone else. They smoke EVERYWHERE, even in locations specifically for children. They are loud, messy and feral. I don’t even think my experience would have been as bad as it was if the guests weren’t as horrible as they were. ||4. ONLY two lifts. They are constantly full, especially around dinner time. All the family rooms are on the first floor so you are forced to get the lift, but you are constantly waiting for it.||5. As another review mentioned, the drinks are not consistent. The flavour really do change depending on who is making them and the time of day.||6. The lack of information. The hotel do not print off a timetable of restaurant openings or anything for when you arrive. It is done by QR CODE which is very laggy, and quite frankly terrible. You sometimes get the timings on the tv slideshows placed around the hotel, but they change very quickly. A PRINTED timetable of the daily cuisines, activities etc would have been a great addition.||7. Now… who thought it was a good idea to not have an entertainment section/stage. The fire show is done at the restaurant by the park and there are no seats, no stage and you are just walking past the show and fire. We went in September and I have no idea how they managed in peak season. You need a stage!||8. Sunloungers. The British absolutely love reserving sunbeds. By 7am all the front row loungers are reserved by people who don’t use them :) :). The pool towels the hotel provides are horrible. Frayed and stained. ||I would never come back to this hotel, which is actually a shame. The guests, as opposed to the hotel, made that decision for me. But the hotel do not prevent it, therefore encourages it so it will...
