We booked the Ivi Mare to celebrate my wife's birthday as well as to enjoy get some October sun and we were not disappointed. The hotel is, in our eyes, earned its 5 star rating from the moment we arrived by transfer. The doorman was immediately there ushering us into the reception and removing our cases from the transport. The receptionists were smiling and eager to help directing us to a specific desk where we were assisted in completing our forms and giving us a detailed description of the facilitates, meal times, and restaurants. We were offered a cool lemonade, which was welcome, and when we were ready, we were shown to our room by the concierge, who also delivered our cases. We were on the 4th floor and would recommend that if you can you book a minimum of a superior sea view room, the view over the 50 metre pool and well designed sun bed areas to the sea was well worth it. The room met and exceeded all our expectations. It was large, bright, and clean with a well-appointed walk-in shower in the bathroom. What was really good was that there was plenty of drawer space, in the wardrobe dresses could be properly hung without them touching the floor or other shelves, the safe was at eye height (a true luxury when you are not as mobile as you used to be!) and there was a dressing room type mirror next to a series of plugs for hairdryers etc. The beds were really comfortable, and I took advantage of the "pillow menu" to select a memory foam pillow rather than the feather types, which meant that I could get a good nights sleep. The room as cleaned every day and towels could be changed when you wanted. There was also a minimum of 2 bottles of water given every day, which was welcome.||The pool area was well maintained and had plenty of the most comfortable sunbeds I can remember. We were given 2 large towels and 2 bottles of chilled water when ever we wanted to get a bed and due to the large number of beds we had no trouble getting a pair side by side with an umbrella. True to form, despite so many beds, a few wanted to get their towels on before the pool really opened, but this did not mean we were disadvantaged due to the large number of beds available. It may be different in high summer. The pool staff were always on hand and would intervene when bathers were trying to move the umbrellas to ensure that they were placed to our requirements and to stop us from dropping the bases on our toes! You could order drinks from an app, but as we were on B&B terms (our preferred), we didn't bother. However, watching the staff efficiently deliver drinks was an experience.||The main restaurant was large and well staffed. The range of foods available at the breakfast buffet was international, and there was more than enough. Nothing was allowed to run out. There was only one toaster, which was just enough for October, but I could see that high summed guests would struggle, so it might be an idea to install a second machine - just saying. I was particularly impressed with the egg station as you could get poached eggs cooked in front of you, and there was genuine back bacon - heaven.||We did use the main restaurant for two evening meals, the Italian and Cyprus nights, and were impressed with the range of foods available at the buffet.||There are two al-a-carte restaurants, Cypriot Greek and Japanese, both of which are well used in the evening. We chose to book the Fiki Japanese restaurant for my wife's birthday meal, and it was a delight. The lady serving us guided us through the best dishes for us, and we had a simply stunning meal with good wine. I would warn those who, like us, wanted a sweet, and the deep fried ice creams are not only delicious but are large enough to feed a small country - I would recommend this restaurant to all.| |A wonderful surprise was the unexpected birthday cake and bottle sparkling wine delivered to the room for my wife in the afternoon of her birthday, it made her day.||All in all, it was a wonderful stay in a great hotel. We are likely to return in the future, and we have no hesitation in...
Read moreI'm not long back from a fantastic week at the Ivi Mare and it really is one of the best hotels I've ever had the pleasure of staying at. Here's a few thoughts on what we encountered:
Location About an hour's walk to the Paphos harbour if you fancy a decent stroll, or just ten minutes in a taxi. The hotel is well placed to get around the island should you want to hire a car. There's also plenty of buses along the main road, in both directions. The airport is less than an hour away too. We found better beaches in other areas, but as long as you've got diving shoes, this beach is fine for water access and a swim to cool down. Load of interesting rock pools full of small fish, shrimps and crabs too.
Rooms We indulged ourselves with a Jacuzzi room, there's not that many of them and I'm so glad we chose one. It was really lovely to get in at night and look out to sea, likewise there's something special about drinking your morning coffee from a hot tub with an amazing view.
The room was spacious, clean and modern. The super-king bed was the comfiest I've slept on. When we arrived in the room we had a welcome platter of fruit and sandwiches, along with a bottle of prosecco on ice, a nice touch.
There's loads of wardrobe and drawer space, the shower is excellent and the tea/coffee making facilities include a kettle and Nespresso machine. There's also a fridge that's stocked daily should you want to use it.
The facilities The hotel is spotless, both inside and out. The AC works and provides welcome relief from the humidity for those that want it. The outside pool is so warm and relaxing, but there's also a cold water pool downstairs in the spa, nice after a gym session to cool down. If you download the hotel app you can order drinks and food to your sunbed which is nice, you can also arrange restocking for the things in your bathroom, or choose new pillows via it too.
Check out was 12pm and we weren't flying until gone 10pm. We were able to book a courtesy room for free which enabled us to fully enjoy the last day around the hotel and on the beach, yet still get a shower and changed at tea time.
The staff Every single person we met was friendly and helpful, they're all so professional and made our stay easy and comfortable. They work hard and deserve a lot of credit.
Food I love food, it's a huge part of our holiday, and the food at Ivi Mare was outstanding. The buffet restaurant had so much choice and offered different menus daily. The food stations were kept clean, and food was kept fresh or replaced if it had been there too long. It really was great quality. We also booked into the a la carte restaurants, both of which were surprisingly good! I don't usually expect a lot from themed restaurants abroad but both the Pan Asian and the Greek were amazing. High quality food, beautiful setting and great service again. I can also recommend the pool bar for lunch.
Summary Overall I'd say this is in the top three hotels I've been to, a genuine 5 stars. The adults only aspect really made it, and I only realised the benefits when walking past other hotels locally and hearing the noise! The only critical feedback I can provide is that too many people were reserving sunbeds with towels when the hotel clearly ask people not to. I'd clamp down on it if it was me. Oh and the soup spoons were a bit too big! That's literally it.
I don't know if we'll go back to Paphos but if we do, I'd absolutely book a Jacuzzi...
Read moreWe’re one of many returning guests to this hotel, of which should speak volumes. ||Moreover, whilst we find the hygiene, facilities and location faultless (see last year’s review for more details:https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowUserReviews-g2318557-d14943429-r972655323-Ivi_Mare_Designed_For_Adults_by_Louis_Hotels-Geroskipou_Paphos_District.html). This review has to be dedicated to the friendly faces that make up the Ivi Mare. ||Firstly, we’d like to extend a thank you to the incredible pool team. Mohamad and Mahmoud on Umbrella/Towel/Water duty- the help these guys provided did not go unnoticed. This hotel takes ‘not lifting a finger’ to the extreme. I don’t believe I once moved or even put up my own parasol, with the pair always so quick to help. ||Youssef, Morad and Sanju were also the absolute dream team delivering drinks throughout the day. Youssef’s skill and thoughtfulness to remember each guests name was impressive to witness each morning. But equally, his incredibly warming and friendly presence was a joy to be around. The entire pool team were faultlessly polite, positive and attentive. ||You won’t be able to miss Mohamed’s charming, extra-mile attitude that radiates from him at meal times. This man is so eager to ensure you are treated in the highest regard, we could not be more grateful to him. I looked forward to seeing his unwavering, smiling face at the end of each day (and much appreciated the unordered mocktails). ||Finally, someone you may not have the pleasure of meeting (although unlikely as he is forever visible in the restaurants) is Chris, the Head Chef. With a dietary requirement to consider, I felt safe and continually well fed, entrusting Chris and his highly skilled team to deliver exceptional food. On that, to put the quality (and quantity) of the food into some perspective, I can confidently say I have never eaten so well on an All Inclusive basis (even pre-dietary preference). The flavours, texture, variety and richness of the food…PERFECTION. Chris somehow surpassed our already high expectations set by himself the previous year by ordering in vegan cheese for our arrival. Again we could not be more grateful for this thoughtful touch and elite service. Even in Chris’ absence, his remarkable management of the team ensured I was always well catered for. For as long as Chris allows, he has customers for life through us. ||I hope the Ivi Mare recognise what a credit their entire team are to them. But if you’re reading this, contemplating whether to book, please do, if only for the luxury you’ll receive from the team alone. It’s a rarity to find every individual working as hard as they do here, but we are eternally grateful to each of them. With a final, special mention to Andreas, operations manager. Another friendly face to welcome us, quickly manage any concerns and equally find the time for a friendly chat on our departure. ||We thought it was a difficult hotel to leave last year. But the grief we feel from leaving our ‘heaven by the sea’ for the second time hits differently. Everyone and thing seems so familiar and homely to us now, it’s hard to say goodbye to something we love so deeply. Thank you once again for an incredible stay. ||We wish everyone well and hope to see all their beautiful, kind...
