Just to preface, this was our honeymoon. Additionally, when we talk about staff below, it's the reception staff. The bar staff outside the hotel were amazing and friendly. When arriving, things were great, friendly faces, we were given some food and drinks to celebrate our honeymoon (This will come up later) and overall the hotel appeared clean. So we were very happy with our choice initially. A few nights in, we were woken to the sound of banging on our door at midnight. This startled us, but we assumed it was just a drunk or something. We eventually fell back asleep but 4 hours later there were very loud bangs on our hotel room door. We wasn't sure what time it was at this moment, so we assumed it was right afterwards and someone might be warning us about a fire. To be sure, we rang reception but no answer. While trying to phone them, the bangs got louder. We were unsure what to do, so we plucked up the courage and opened the door (No peephole btw). What stood before us was a naked old man. He looked at us angrily and then ran off. We went down to see the staff, but there was nobody there. We left a note about what happened and that we'd be back. The act itself wasn't the hotels fault, but the lack of cameras, staff and overall security made us feel very unsafe. We went down the next morning and were met with a really rude manager, she told us we shouldn't open the door and we should've called. When we told her nobody answered the phone and nobody was on the desk when we came down, she was shocked but kept repeating herself. Her advice as the manager was that we should've just let him bang on our door all night even if there was a potential emergency. When my wife told her that she felt unsafe, she told us she was sorry she felt that way and smiled at us... We let it go, this is our honeymoon and we didn't want this to ruin things. A few hours later we noticed tiny ants crawling all over our bed, side tables, everywhere. So we called reception and were told "We'll send someone up now". After 2 hours of complaining, they sent up housekeeping who simply sprayed ant spray in a corner a few times and said she'd change the bedding in a few hours. I rang reception again and said we don't want to be in a room full of ants and ant spray on our honeymoon. They offered us a new room, which was half the size of what we paid for. I went and complained again and was told it's the same room, and not only that, it's an upgrade! The receptionists kept smiling and we're clearly enjoying this. They offered us a meal worth around 25 euros, I told them was unacceptable. I got on the phone to LoveHolidays and the lady I spoke to was horrified. She called the hotel, and they told her a bunch of lies. They said we brought food into the room which caused the ants to appear on the 6th floor? They completely forgot that they GAVE US that food complimentary for our honeymoon! They also lied to you about the room sizes being the same. You then contacted us to say that Aquamare offered us a complimentary late checkout, nonsense, we requested this from them on the morning before leaving, there was no kind gesture. There is no way this is 4 stars, and looking at the recent reviews for this place, you can see we're not the only ones raising these EXACT same problems (Ants and rude staff). Their constant lies to LoveHolidays have resulted in zero compensation, other than a 25 euro meal voucher, for food that is not worth that price anyway (It's the cheapest quality of food possible). When a hotel can't admit when they're wrong and has to resort to lying to cover their own faults, you know you're in a really terrible place. Thank you for ruining our honeymoon stay at your hotel, we thankfully made the most of it by staying out of your terrible hotel as much as possible.

If anyone remembers the British show "Holidays From Hell," you'll understand my experience at Aquamare Hotel. Honestly, I wish I could give this place a zero-star rating. Let me explain why... When this hotel opened in 2006, it might have deserved a 4-star rating, but nearly 20 years of neglect and lack of maintenance have left it in a shocking state. It seems like either the owners and management have zero pride in the place or they're trying to con guests into thinking it's better than it is. If you do complain, they'll try to upgrade you to half-board or all-inclusive to keep you quiet – probably in hopes of getting more people to book and avoid bad reviews. The Facilities: * Indoor pool: The rim is stained yellow and looks unhygienic. * Jets: Advertised as working, but none are functional. * Saunas and steam rooms: Both closed, with signs that appear to have been up for months. * Roof leaks: If you choose to sit by the pool, you can enjoy the sight of water dripping from the ceiling and calcite deposits forming what looks like a stalagmite. This clearly hasn’t happened overnight – it’s been building up over months or even years. * Jacuzzi: Only two jets work, and there's visible scum floating on the surface. * General decor: The hallways, furniture, and decorations scream "1990s" and haven't been updated in decades. The price, however, has certainly inflated over time. The Housekeeping: At least they clean your room daily – though they conveniently leave dirty mugs around for you to enjoy. Breakfast: Start your day with some protein… or jam, if you can get past the trail of ants crawling in and out of the food. Outdoor Areas: The pictures on Google and the hotel’s website showcase a pristine lawn with neatly arranged sun loungers. In reality, you’ll find dead patches of grass, mouldy umbrellas, and broken loungers with no shade. Customer Service: We raised concerns about the misleading advertisements and the broken facilities. In response, they offered us an upgrade to half-board or all-inclusive, but since we had already planned day trips, that was of no use to us. They refused to offer any refund for the lack of working facilities, and nothing was fixed during our stay. I suspect the upgrades are just a way to placate unhappy guests without actually addressing the issues. To make matters worse, we witnessed the duty manager shouting at maintenance staff to ā€œtidy upā€ the wedding reception area, only for neglect to resume once the event ended. Some staff were passive-aggressive, and the duty manager was downright rude, shouting at guests to leave the pool. This is NOT what customer service should look like. Final Thoughts: Save your money and stay somewhere else! There are plenty of other well-maintained hotels along the seafront that are in better condition and much more reasonably priced. At Ā£160+ per night, Aquamare is definitely not worth it. I’d say it’s only worth about half that amount, given the state of the facilities. One plus: the location is convenient, with a €2 bus to the harbour and other connections. But that’s about it. Don’t make the same mistake we did. Oh and a final point. In case the management team reply to say the facilities were fixed. Here are the images. Oh and from checking out on 6/09/2025 - nothing had been fixed.

Having visited the hotel in April 2022 (having just come out of lockdown in Cyprus), we loved the hotel so much that we booked again for April 2023. At that time, we had a superb room but not this time. Positives - the main hotel areas remain very clean, modern and the outdoor bar area has been improved. The variety of food available at breakfast and evening meal times (we were half board) was excellent and the quality too. The meat dishes were particularly good as were the fresh salad choices and desserts also. Tip, if you like omelettes, ask the chef for one as they cook them freshly to order whilst you wait - and will cook without oil also if you ask. All staff we encountered were fantastic. On the day we arrived, people recognised us and notably Demetrios (main bar) gave us a very lovely welcome and was pleased to see us again. The same happened with Marina. Marina and Anna were great at their jobs and all three staff members were also so welcoming and friendly when serving us - thank you so much, it made us feel like royalty. Negatives (most of which were not experienced on previous visit to hotel) … Pools - The indoor pool was freezing cold. On enquiring, was advised that the pool heating was switched off at beginning of April. This resulted in hardly anyone using yet the water streams were running constantly. We discovered that nearby hotels still had their pools heated. The outdoor pool was also extremely cold as this is not heated and not used by very many people either. This is seriously something that management should reconsider by extending heating the indoor pool until end of April at least as the sea also isn't warm either at that time of year. Our Room (319) was next to a cleaning store. Every morning, we were woken up at 7am by its door slamming more than once, with cleaners talking loudly and moving items in the store. We also know that room 219 occupants experienced the same issue as we did (although that room is carpeted unliked 319). There were Smokers on adjacent angled balcony constantly (this is the corner of the two angles of different corridors overlooking the outdoor bar area towards Paphos harbour} so had to keep closing the balcony door - ideally should be no smoking rooms on this angled area as in very close proximity to each other. People in surrounding rooms were constantly moving furniture and often late at night, making a loud scrapping sound - Not just one time but most days/nights. Carpets would be a bonus but I think possibly it could have been that beds were moved by cleaners making the beds and occupants returning them to where they wished them to be placed (ie they are all single beds pushed together for a double). Room 319 is in need or refurbishing as very tatty now with wood furnishings being chipped and wall canvas was falling apart - see photos. Bathroom tile Grout needs renewing as mouldy. The entry door to room from corridor lets light and sound in. Carpet along the corridor was stained in places. Blue beach towels provided to guests to use outdoors, swimming etc were often worn and stained.

Oh and from checking out on 6/09/2025 - nothing...

Negatives (most of which were not experienced on previous visit to hotel) …

Pools - The indoor pool was freezing cold.

Blue beach towels provided to guests to use outdoors, swimming etc were often worn...
