We requested a quiet room with windows that open and The Brick Room apartment was a private and perfect hide-a-way. There is an outside patio upstairs area that we used each day for our own afternoon wine and cheese. We stayed 6 nights and made our own breakfast and packed lunches for 6 days of exploring Prague. For cooking, there is all the necessary equipment to make spaghetti. I was impressed with the 4 recycling bins in the apartment, as saving our oceans is now paramount. We just left our fruit and vegetable peels in a tied up bag on our outside doorknob each day and the cleaning staff collected them. There are 2 TV's but they are not connected which did not matter as we were out day and night sight seeing or sitting outside in nearby restaurants. Once we stepped into the calm, shady, tree lined streets of this area, we noticed birds singing and the quiet clatter of cafes and restaurants. We made coffee in the reception. Simon and Jacob, office staff (open 9 to 7 p.m.) both speak English and explained how to buy multiple tickets to catch all of the nearby transport. To get to the Elema, buy 4 X 30 minute single tickets at a news shop or kiosk and ride the Metro red line to the Pavola Stop. Walk uphill to London, rt. 3 blocks to Zhabrenska, on corner on left. From the airport, take bus 119 to metro, then Green Line to Miru, walk down Amerika, to Zhabrenska 9. Restaurant UHalanu with outside patio across street. Hallway has a basket of Prague guide books in many languages. Walk around the block to a square with a fountain where there are many more restaurants. There are 2 small grocery stores nearby. Another review mentioned occasional sour smell whiffs from the ancient sewer system, so we took small packets of vinegar and emptied one in the toilet when we left each day to kill any chance of odor. Prague is an ancient city so city infrastructure it is not the fault of staff. We are senior citizens and...
Read moreOn first impression, the place looks fine. Until you find out they have a scheme to deceive the guests.||I asked a guy named Mario about a laundry service near the hotel and he said they have this kind of service for 5 euro per full machine. Of course I wanted, because the price was awesome. The next day in the morning, I left my laundry with a guy named Jakub to get them back the day before that. That's where the problem started.||||When I went to the office to get my laundry back, he said they need to separate the whites and colors in to different laundries, That's ok to me, pay 10 euros for that, right? NO! He said it was 20 euros, 10 per laundry, contrary what I was told before by Mario, who by chance was Jakub's boss. He said it was in the "house rules" (which was never shown to me) and that was the price. I paid so I can get my laundry back and asked him to talk with his boss about that so I can get my 10 euros refund. The next day (the check-out day), Jakub was not there, just a lady I think her name was Andrea. She said the same thing as Jakub and after my complains, she told me she will speak with Mario (the boss) and refund me via Booking. After 3 days texting them with no answer, I made a bad review on Booking and keep complaining via text messages. I think they was tired of my complains and decided to refund me via international bank transfer (they siad they will refund me for "not understanding"). I waited to get back to Brazil to get thet international transfer information with my bank and then I sent it. They said they won't refund me anymore because of my bad Booking review.||||I think people who does things like that can do anything, like enter the room and tinker with your stuff, or steal things... Never trust people like that, they...
Read moreWe have just come back from a 4 night stay in Prague. There were 2 couples, so we booked the 2 bedroom apartment with terrace & it was absolutely perfect. Spotlessly clean, quiet and very comfortable. Their was everything we could have wanted. An added bonus, which I was previously unaware of was, was a second toilet. We had glorious weather and it was great to sit out on the terrace and enjoy the sun and a Czech beer. The beds were very comfortable. We had arranged transfers to & from the airport and were met on time by Sydney who was very friendly and who on route to the apartment, gave us lots of information of where to go and what to see. We were checked in by Jakob who was very friendly & again very helpful. The surrounding area is a bonus as well. It is situated in a lovely quiet, leafy suberb with lots of nice restaurants and bars, almost on every corner. The Bernard bar/restaurant is especially good. The number 23 tram, which is situated across the road, takes you into the centre of town and takes approximately 15 minutes. Sydney had stated it was about a 15 minute walk into the centre but this estimate is a little conservative, more like 25. However, do not be put off by this. The trams run frequently & although the 23 stops at 7.00pm there are several more which take you to this vicinity. They are very cheap & can be bought from the metro. We purchased a 24 hour ticket. I was glad we we stayed out of the centre because it is extremely busy, so it was nice to escape the hustle and bustle and the restaurants/bars in this lovely, safe area are slightly cheaper than in the centre- Prague is not as cheap as people say!. To summarise, I would highly recommend Residence Elema and I am very fussy, it...
