Read moreI am a local and these 3 stars represent a long-term frustration on how Wenceslas looks like. A beautifully restored museum & a statue of Saint Wenceslas overlooking an avenue that functions more as a parking place.
I'm definitely most excited to finally see work is being done transforming it into a public space for people similarly to what you see in the lower part of the square.
If you're visiting Prague, please be advised that the upper portion of the square (from the top down until midway to Můstek) is undergoing a complete renovation but mind you all businesses, shops, subway stations on both sides are open. If you're driving then many parking places are now unavailable as you see in the photos.
The works will reintroduce trams with car traffic drastically restricted. This 1st phase of the project started in May2024 with about 3+ years to complete.

Read moreThis magnificent monument stands in tribute to Saint Wenceslas. It's an equestrian statue, almost at the apex of the eponymous square, just in front of the National museum.
The monument has the saint in military attire and holding a flagstaff in his right hand , while his left holds the reins of his horse. The equestrian statue stands atop a rectangular plinth with four other sculptures at each corner. I had to do a bit of research to figure out who they were, but it's other Czech patron saints depicting Saint Ludmila, Saint Agnes of Bohemia, Saint Prokop, and Saint Adalbert.
