I recently had the opportunity to stay at Hotel Expo during my visit to Prague, and I have mixed feelings about my experience. Let me start with the positives before diving into some of the drawbacks I encountered.
First and foremost, I must commend the hotel for its quality service. The staff members were friendly, professional, and always ready to assist me with any queries or requests. They made me feel welcome from the moment I arrived until the day of my departure. The check-in process was swift, and I was provided with all the necessary information about the hotel amenities and nearby attractions.
My room at Hotel Expo was comfortable and well-maintained. The bed was cozy, ensuring a good night's sleep after a long day of exploring the city. The room was adequately furnished and had all the basic amenities I needed, such as a TV, a minibar, and a clean bathroom. I appreciated the attention to cleanliness and the efforts made by the housekeeping staff to keep the room tidy throughout my stay.
However, there were a couple of significant downsides to my experience at Hotel Expo. One of the main issues was the noise easily heard from neighboring rooms. The walls seemed quite thin, and I could hear conversations and even some television noise from the adjacent rooms. This lack of sound insulation made it difficult to relax and enjoy a peaceful atmosphere within my own space.
Another aspect worth mentioning is the hotel's location. While the hotel is conveniently situated close to the Prague Exhibition Grounds, it is quite far from the city center. This meant that I had to rely heavily on public transportation to get to the popular tourist attractions and historical sites. Although the hotel is easily accessible by tram or metro, the extra time and effort required to travel back and forth from the center of Prague were somewhat inconvenient.
Despite these drawbacks, I must emphasize that the service provided by the staff and the comfortable room were the redeeming factors of my stay at Hotel Expo. If you prioritize quality service and a comfortable accommodation over proximity to the city center, this hotel might still be a viable option for you. However, if you are sensitive to noise or prefer to stay in the heart of Prague, you might want to consider other...
Read moreThe hotel is well positioned in that is is not in the centre of the city so is therefore cheaper is is also only a 5 minute walk from the metro station. Unfortunately it is far enough away from the city centre that there can be a language barrier. The hotels website states it has English speaking staff however we found this not to be the case, and if exploring the area local to the hotel you'll struggle with the language.
The hotel itself is simple, modern and clean. Probably more like 3 stars. It has a very travelodge sort of vibe. There's certainly no luxury. Also the room we had consisted of a bathroom with only a shower. I much prefer a hotel room with both bath and shower however this isn't an issue for everyone.
My biggest complaint would be the pillows on the bed, they were so soft that they just went flat as soon as you lay on them, this combined with the very firm mattress unfortunately did not make for a good nights sleep.
Overall our stay was satisfactory, the hotel is reasonable for the price. I personally wouldn't visit again however this is more due to personal preference rather than there being anything wrong with the...
Read moreDefinitely not a 4 star hotel. However Rooms were clean and fresh, receptionists were kind and ready to help. But I had an unpleasant experience at the hotel restaurant. In the evening, I ordered an apple strudel with ice cream and found a hair baked into the pastry, which completely ruined my appetite. I didn’t finish the dessert and informed the waitress about the hair. She looked surprised and simply said it wasn’t their fault but the kitchen’s, then took the plate away.
Later, I came back for a coffee and told a different waitress about what had happened. Again, she said it wasn’t their fault but the kitchen’s. While I was drinking my coffee, one of the waitresses brought me an “apology drink” card — a nice gesture, I thought, and decided to let it go.
The next day, I came back to use the card and ordered an Aperol. The waiter told me that Aperol wasn’t included in the “apology drink” options. A bit later, my friend joined me and ordered a non-alcoholic mojito — that wasn’t included either.
We paid for our drinks and left the hotel with an unpleasant feeling. I won’t...
