We chose Hotel Otakar because of the wellness (hot tub); otherwise, we would have picked a different hotel. The wellness was reserved via email (where it seemed like they weren't even aware of our payment) and then confirmed by the receptionist at check-in on the afternoon of our arrival. We were unpleasantly surprised when, a few minutes before our reservation, we went to the reception and were simply told by a different receptionist (not the one from the afternoon) that the hot tub is only for two people, so we couldn't use it as a group of three. This was not mentioned to us in the afternoon when we arrived at the hotel, and if it had been, we could have made different arrangements. ||||We initially got our money back, but then I checked the reservation system, and there was no indication that the hot tub area was only for two people. Unfortunately, it didn't seem like the receptionist cared much, especially since the mistake was clearly not on our part and the reservation had been confirmed as fine by the afternoon receptionist. The other wellness room with a sauna (which we didn't even want) was available, but instead of two hours, we only had the room for one hour because we weren't willing to pay an extra 600 CZK. We were surprised that, besides a weak apology, nothing else was offered to us, and when we asked if we could have the room for two hours at the same price (considering it wasn't our fault), we were told it wasn't possible. ||||In the end, we settled for one hour in the wellness room, which my mom couldn't even enjoy because she had trouble breathing, and the water temperature in the hot tub couldn't be adjusted. If we had been told in the afternoon that the hot tub was only for two, we wouldn't have had a problem and would have made other plans, but we still don't understand how the hotel staff couldn't have known this, confirmed our reservation, and then suddenly in the evening it wasn't possible. ||||The hotel was reasonably priced, and the apartment was clean, but after the weekend, we were quite sore from the beds. However, for just sleeping, it was fine. The fan in the apartment was more decorative as you could only feel a breeze if you stood directly in front of it. The shower door had poor sealing, and water leaked onto the floor during showers. Breakfast was fine, possibly the best part of the stay, although the dining room was very crowded, so you were likely to get bumped into frequently as...

Read moreAn extremely disappointing experience. Avoid at all costs, especially if they try to give you a 'room' on the 5th floor. The 5th floor is essentially a converted loft, where they improvised 4 rooms that barely qualify for the name. They are extremely crowded, have no proper storage space for clothes, only one electrical socket, terrible bathrooms with malfunctioning toilets, broken shower screen doors and the list goes on. The rooms are nothing like what you see in the pictures, which are taken from the regular rooms on floors 1-4. The elevator doesn't even go to the 5th floor (you have to take some stairs from the 4th), which shows again that the entire 5th floor situation is just an improvised arrangement, made out of greed to squeeze out some extra rooms out of what should essentially be a storage / maintenance area. I will state for clarity that when we made the booking we were presented with pictures from the regular rooms which offer decent space for the most part and double beds for some. We even explicitly selected the double bed option, to avoid a twin room. Of course, there is no double bed on the 5th floor and you can't even put the twins together since that fully occupies the entire width of the room, with not a centimeter to spare. I could go on about the laughable wifi which disconnects randomly every 5-10 minutes, but those kind of details are minor nuisances compared to the frustration of paying the full double room price for the glorified storage closet where we were 'accommodated'. When I mentioned my grievances to the receptionist, he just presented me with a very neutral 'Ok', and that was pretty much the end of the conversation (not that I was really expecting anything more). In summary, the entire experience left me with a very sour taste and I will do my best to avoid this and any related hotels in the future. I can only recommend you...
