I'll separate this review into 3 parts - the good, the bad, and the biased. We spent a week in the Junior Suite.
The Good
Most of the staff were very friendly. Receptionist, bartenders, cleaning staff, etc.
The TV was big enough, you're able to use an HDMI if you bring one. Only downside is there's no brightness adjustments (if you're a TV-on-while-you-sleep type of person.
There's a keurig with a few complimentary capsules and creamers.
The bathroom was nice (aesthetically). Big shower, big overall.
The beds were OK. I take sleeping pills so once I fell asleep, I fell back quickly. But the sheets are slippery and the mattress is pretty soft. Pillows are also not the best (flimsy).
Bar had a decent (but expensive) selection.
Our room had lots of closet space.
The Bad
My absolute biggest gripe is that upon reserving a room, some have AC and others do not. I have a disability that comes with a massive heat sensitivity. We specifically purchased a room WITH AC for that reason. Nowhere in the booking process did it say the AC was turned off, not working, or otherwise inaccessible.
We get there. AC doesn't work. Staff say it's turned on because it's not in season. Well great. We're on the 7th floor, the weather is mild, and heat travels up. The nights were fine but the days were not good. Offering a fan isn't a solution, either - it's the bare minimum after seriously missing the ball on something you claimed to have.
On top of that, there's a barcode you can scan once you check in, get your room keys, etc. that takes you to a FAQ page. On that page, there is the question: "Do the rooms have AC?" and the answer is "No." Well... that would've been nice to know before we paid extra for a room with AC. On the 7th floor.
We were saved by having a balcony that could be opened at night to let in the cold air. However, colleagues who also purchased rooms with AC had windows with child locks so they couldn't be opened completely (only partially at the very top, so air flow was not doing its trick).
That (very big blunder) aside, there are a few other things to mention.
We did have a mini-fridge, but if you attempted to turn the dial to adjust the temperature, the dial would completely fall off. So it was stuck on the lowest setting and didn't quite get things cold enough. That's probably a room-problem and not an overall hotel problem, though.
The water pressure was terrible. This was also a common complaint across the people we were there with. The water was also very tempermental. Randomly going cold in the middle of a shower or either too cold or too hot with not much in-between.
The chair by the desk area is not meant for long-term sitting. It's plastic, cheap-feeling, and very uncomfortable. The big armchairs are slightly better but inconvenient to move and obviously don't have the ideal fit for desk work.
No electric kettle. Honestly kind of shocking. Usually that's a guarantee for hotel rooms in Europe.
The electricity is tied to the overall light switches. If you want to charge your phone/laptop overnight, you'll need to go to every lamp and light (there are a lot) and turn them all off. And then turn them back on the following evening. Which wouldn't be so bad if there was an overall light for max brightness and not a bunch of individual lamps.
The Biased
The walls aren't thick enough. I get that you risk thin walls in a hotel and it's not like we heard everything going on. But whenever the room next to us was doing something near whatever wall we shared with them, it sounded like construction work was going on. It must not have been a super used area though because it wasn't constant. It was manageable.
Hotel parking is expensive AF. And there are only 17 spots! Of course, you can then park in the garage, which is connected to hotel parking. But I think that's even more expensive? Regardless, almost 200 euros for 6 days. But I put this in the biased section because this might just be a "me" problem.
You can't do online checkout, so no last minute private...
Read moreA week before we arrived we called the hotel and asked if there are rooms with connecting door. We were specifically told that the hotel doesn't have any. In that matter, we asked to receive 4 rooms one by the other in order to make our stay (two families of a total of 11 people with quite a lot of joint suitcases) as easy as possible, and we were told that that shouldn't be a problem, we should just note that in the reservation.
In addition, we asked whether there is enough parking and the parking is not on availability basis and we were told that there is plenty of parking always!
When we arrived, we asked the receptionist about the connecting door and she told us that in fact there are few rooms with connecting doors in the hotel, but since we haven't mentioned it in the reservation, there is nothing she can do and we can't get them.
When we said that her colleague told us that there aren't any, she said that we actually talked with a reservation center (which it's needless to say that at no point of the conversation mentioned that it's not the hotel reception). At the check in we received two rooms next to each other an two additional rooms at the same floor but not next to each other and we had to move across the corridor back and forth in order to take stuff from one suitcase to another for all the family members.
On the second day, we returned to the hotel from a long day in Aquapalace, and when we wanted to get into the parking, a man on behalf of the hotel refused to let us in since the hotel's parking was full, unlike what we were told about the parking availability.
In general, when we entered the parking on the first day, we found out that it included only approx. 7 parking spots, in complete contrast to the false representation that the reservations center represented to us.
At the bottom line, the reservations center completely mislead us with quite a few things. Two families of a total of 11 people had to improvise and compromise with solutions after being mislead with a different representation.
I have to compliment the fantastic coffee at breakfast, make by a barista according to guest request and the very comfy bed.
Too bad reservations center sells people with rubbish...
Read moreIt was my first time in Prague, I had a wonderful stay at OREA Hotel Angelo! From the very beginning, I was impressed , the check-in was the fastest I’ve ever experienced. The reception team deserves special mention: the smiling, friendly pretty girls at the front desk were not only welcoming but also genuinely helpful. If you need advice about the city, they give you honest, practical recommendations rather than just tourist clichés, which made a big difference. The location is excellent — in a quiet area Smichov but still very close to the metro Andel station, tram many of them take you to center, and bus stops even taking to the international airport , making it super easy to get around. What made it even better is that right next to the hotel there’s a shopping mall with many good cafés, shops, and popular restaurants like McDonald’s and KFC — very convenient after a long day of exploring.
The rooms were spotless, modern, clean, and well-equipped with everything you could need: safe, TV, internet, fridge, and more. They felt both comfortable and stylish, a perfect base to return to after sightseeing.
Breakfast was another highlight — delicious, varied, and fresh, setting me up perfectly for the day. The check-out process was just as smooth and quick as the check-in, and I appreciated that the reception happily stored my baggage after I checked out.
Overall, it was a fantastic experience — smooth, comfortable, and enjoyable from start to finish. I’d happily stay here again on my next trip to Prague and strongly recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable, modern, and welcoming hotel with everything you need right at...
