The SANCTUARY Los Corales — Hotel in Higüey

Was checked in by Yasha,seemed super nice at checkin.First 3 days of stay had no hot water,barely luke warm,hard taking showers with my arthritis Then episodes of no water at all. After repeatedly complaining to Yasha and the texas company about the issue they finally sent guys to fix the problem,had my first hot shower in 4 days! Then again zero water out of any faucet! Couldnt use shower,use toilet or even wash hands. Beyond frustrated at this point,complained again to everyone involved and they sent someone at 3am who worked on the problem somewhere below my apartment in the building,clanging and banging pipes until 430 am,hardly any sleep that night.Had email sent to me from the texas company saying that they were honoring my request to check out two prepayed for nights early,never made that request!They lied to booking.com that I made that request. Was checked out by Yasha demanding I leave at 10am instead of normal 11 am time her saying I requested to leave then,again more lies! She hen shows up at 11 am with a police officer in full uniform and pistol on hip to check me out of unit.Got refunded for last two nights that were already prepaid a few weeks earlier and was compensated a couple of hundred dollars from booking.com for this ordeal, but Im still in very upset by all the miss treatment that took place and will never set foot on that property ever again! There are plenty of other places to stay at in Los Corales,book them instead. This place also has a garbage dump and lagoon swamp pit directly behind the building,see last photos attached and see photos of zero water coming...

I spent 5 nights in this hotel with my 15 yo daughter. |This is a very special place. You as a visitor are given a lot of time and attention. You are greeted when you arrive, everything is shown and explained, a tour of the area is given, where to eat, where to exchange money. It felt so good and so comforting. |Location is perfect. Sanctuary is located in the gated community called Los Corales in the heart of Bavaro. There are other small hotels and villas. There are also several restaurants inside the Los Corales community and many are outside the gate within a very short distance. So many choices. There are also couple of markets nearby where you can buy food. Everything is very close. The beach is within a couple of minutes walk. Jackie (the manager) introduced us to Pablo (excursion broker) and we bought two excursions from him. I liked them (more than the ones I got from a different company).|When I first walked into the apartment I had a feeling that nobody ever stayed there before. It was very clean. The Sanctuary has rules wich made perfect sense to me and were very easy to follow. I had no issues with that. The place is very quiet, I only heard birds. Once you step out of the gate there is a lot of activity, but inside the gate is very peaceful and quiet. |There are many other pleasant little details about this place that I am not able to fit into the review . Unfortunately, our family’s long-awaited vacation June 2024 to Punta Cana turned out to be a disappointing and frustrating experience. The beach and water conditions did not meet our expectations and were far from the pictures described on the web site. While we understand that nature can be unpredictable and controllable, the state of the beach and water conditions were disappointing. The beach was very dirty and had garbage and seaweed all over. Moreover, the amenities and service at the condominium were also very disappointing. The unreliable water supply, poor internet service, and additional charges for electricity were unexpected and added to our dissatisfaction. It was particularly frustrating to find out about these charges only upon checkout, leading to a sense of unfairness and lack of transparency. Furthermore, transportation was another issue we encountered. The prepaid round-trip transfer from the airport to the condo did not go smoothly, with the driver being unresponsive and additional fees being demanded. Despite these challenges, we tried to make the most of our time together as a family. However, the issues we faced during our stay in the sanctuary los Corales Punta Cana will unfortunately be remembered as a major downside to what was meant to be a special and relaxing vacation...
