Update: We ate here almost every day. On day 3, my burger had so much fat in it that I didn't eat it all. On day 4, I walked up to the bar to place a to go order, and the 3 people there ignored me. Presumably, the manager who was seated nearby eating had to say something to them for them to acknowledge me and again the girl at the register tried to short change me.... but back to the Airbnb to eat, bit into my empanada and almost broke my tooth (pic below)
We tried this spot because it was next door to our Airbnb. The burgers and fries were good. The red snapper was delicious and fried perfectly. The reason for the 4-star review is because the mixed drinks are horrible. I had a passionfruit Mojito and my husband had a long island iced tea. Both were horrible. Be mindful that they automatically charge you 28% on top of your total, so pay attention to the bottom of the menu because they won't tell you about it (18% tax and 10% service fee). Also, the waiter brought my change back in pesos instead of USD and tried to short change me. I had to go to the bar to get my correct change. I can only imagine how many American tourists they have gotten over on like that. Please have a currency calculator already downloaded before you travel internationally!!!!! Also, if you're easily offended by flies and stray dogs, this might not be the place for you... But, food is really good. On the weekends, they have a grill menu and they let us sample some beef with small toast that...
Read moreComplete and utter chaos. Stay away! There is no organized manner to get a table - people just hover around tables and the minute one is available, it's snatched up by whoever is standing nearest. Waiting by the bar and asking for a table means nothing to the wait staff or the woman at the cash register. So we ordered take out. Not only did it take more than 45 minutes, every single item we ordered was incorrect. Which either meant more waiting or taking what you got. If that weren't enough, they tried to overcharge us. Twice. When I questioned them on a cost, they said I was looking at an old menu. I asked why the FIVE menus at the counter were all 'old'. Shouldn't they be removed? The lady at the cash found an alternate menu from some obscure place at the back of the bar with the elevated prices. Was this the tourist menu?? I don't know. Then, they tried to charge extra for sides which were supposed to come with the meal. To top that all off, the food was mediocre. If I could have given this place zero stars, I would have. Do yourself a favour and find another place to eat. Customer service was...
Read moreWhat a pleasure it was to spend our time at Soles Restaurant. We ate here one time and came for drinks several other times. We had the ‘meat plate’ and it was all very tasty as well as good value. Drinks are stellar. Presentation of both food and drink top notch. The location cannot be beat, ambience is chill and the music enhances that vibe. Billing is accurate (please, reviewers, learn how the tax/tip system of a Country works before leaving inappropriate reviews of this nature!!!). These people work hard for their money, leave them a tip :) The best thing about Soles though is the staff. (Note: DR in general sadly has a reputation for sloppy, indifferent and even rude service) BUT this is the NOT the case at Soles. In fact it couldn’t be more opposite. We had the pleasure of meeting Le Machina, Jesus, Caterina and Christopher (along with others unknown) - these guys are absolute gems and are a true credit to your restaurant. We wish you much success and hope to see you all again - Christopher &...
