We stayed three nights at this hotel on a tour . The front desk and doorman were friendly and helpful. The hotel is clean the rooms were quite nice , but the neighborhood is loud ,with loud music into the late hours , like 2-3 am . The breakfast room is very nice and there were enough choices for a nice breakfast. We went to the bar one evening and waited 10 minutes before someone arrived to tell us the bar was closed because the bartender did not come to work. We didn’t want a mixed drink we wanted a glass of wine ..anyone can open a bottles of wine ? We asked what if someone wanted a glass of wine with dinner in the dining room , he then realized that the servers do serve wine . So the server came from the dining room and told us we could not have a glass of wine ,they only serve wine by the bottle in the bar ? We just gave up and left the bar . We went out to dinner one evening looking for a particular Italian restaurant . After a few blocks we didn’t feel safe anymore . Luckily two motorcycle officers were overlooking a dispute and we asked how to get to the restaurant , we were turned around . It happens so fast. The officers gave us directions and we started walking . But walking 30 feet ,the two motorcycle officers pulled up and told us to get on the back and the drove us to the restaurant. That was amazing but they told us the area was very dangerous . The restaurant had armed security guards outside front door. Going back to the hotel it was plenty sketchy ! We went on a private tour with a driver for a day and when we returned , he told not to go out in the evening around our hotel .We went to a bakery about two blocks from the hotel , there was 4 of us . We were approached by a very mentally unstable person , who harassed verbally and scary body language making demands. Luckily we arrived at the the hotel the doorman was able to tell this person to leave. If this hotel was in a better location it may work , but in its current location, I would...
Read moreThe first night we arrived we stayed in room on the 10th floor and it was very nice but arrived at 1am and checked out at 8am so basically grabbed a few hrs sleep. Staff was very nice and stored our bags until our return from Banos two days later. The room we got on our return is on the second floor and is not as nice maybe 2.5 stars, nothing wrong with it but dated and very noisy as large windows overlook the street plus noise from the hallway. They have a lounge but it wasn't open even though everything looks set-up and no signs toi advise not open. Front desk advised to go in the restaurant but they only offered a couple of drinks and didn't seem happy that we only wanted an appy and drinks. Free breakfast is nice but lots of tours stay here so this morning just about everything was gone at 8am when we arrived, they did continue to restock but...
Read moreBooked a single room with double bed and mountain view for 2 nights. Upon check-in at approximately 3 pm, I was informed that my room was no longer available. I was given a smaller room and it was right above the ground floor as all I can see looking out of my window was a horrible view of office buildings. My view looking down out of the window was pathetic as I could only see the greenish-mirrored glass top covering that protected the entrance of the hotel (from rain, sun, etc.) There is no point in making a reservation as they have demonstrated that rooms are given to other customers prior to your arrival. However, I went back later that evening to complain and explained the power of social media and all of sudden, a single room with a double bed & mountain view was available (which is exactly the room I initially booked weeks prior)....
