This is the most authentic Indian traditional Punjabi food in Quito with a very reasonable price and a heart warming experience. In last 15 years I have travelled to dozens of countries from several continents and dined at from simple to five star restaurants. I look for truly authentic Indian food (not the ones run by Bangla or Nepal or Pakistani folks). I ordered Indian food from Sher E Punjab a couple of times using UberEats before coming to this place. I must say this is truly a hidden GEM and most of the menu items are $6-$7 price range and yet a great treat! The food reminded me of a traditional Punjabi dhaba style cooking and I fell in love. For rest of the week, I visited every evening after my day trips to Mindo or Cotopaxi or several other destinations. The owner is a young female who is known to Ecuadorian as ‘Didi’. My driver took me here by the way when I told him about my disappointment with Sher E Punjab restaurant where one sauce get used in all Entre’ and is very pricey for the quality offered. I highly recommend Taj Indian Restaurant. Yes it is simple, not a fancy one but where you will get greeted with respect and will be well served and most importantly, the food will remind you traditional...

Run by an Indian couple (the lady seems Punjabi) where the lady seems to manage the cooking and the man the till. Her vegetarian dishes and naan and paratha were good. It is a small place though. About 15 to 20 maybe seated at the max, at a time. Place is easy to miss even if you pass close by. But Google maps shows the location...
