We stayed here our last night in Puerto Ayora. We were a group of 4, booked a room with 4 beds. We actually got a room with 5 beds that could sleep 6 so that was nice. The room was big, the bathroom was tiny (sit sideways on the toilet or your knees will hit the wall). They put a wire mesh trash can in the bathroom (unlike the other place we stayed at where they had a solid trash can with a lid) so after using the bathroom and throwing the toilet paper in the mesh wire can (you're not supposed to flush toilet paper down the toilet), it started to smell like a port-a-potty within hours. For the 4 of us, the room wasn't quite ready when we arrived and and when it was ready, they only gave us 2 towels (they didn't have any more at the time) so 2 of us waited to shower until they could get us 2 more towels. The owners are friendly and available if you ring the doorbell (otherwise, the front door is locked and the reception desk is not manned). The owner's son speaks English well so you can get by if your Spanish is minimal. The roof top (where breakfast is served) has a good view and is open and airy. The breakfast was very simple but made to order (eggs and toast, that's it). If you want a better breakfast (not free), exit the hotel, go to your right and there's a cafe on the corner that serves great coffee and breakfast foods (try the Bolon!). The wifi was spotty, AC and hot water worked well (although there was not much pressure in the shower due to the eco-showerhead). For the price, it worked out for us. We wouldn't stay here again since we stayed elsewhere (Capitan Max B&B) which was much nicer and rated the same (2.5 stars) oddly enough. The location was fine (close to the evening street food bonanza) but the walls are thin and there's a club down the street so when it let out, we heard everyone in the street as if they were in our room. Overall, location is fine and if you're a party of 6, it would be a good deal to share 1 room. If you don't mind spending a bit more, there are nicer places to stay within...
Read moreThis is a family run property – you ring the door bell if the door is locked. The staff was friendly. The accommodation is basic with a comfortable bed, television (limited reception) and good air conditioning (most important!). The bathroom is shower only and note that the only toiletry available in the bathroom is a soap dispenser by the wash basin.||||There was no wardrobe but there is some hanging space with coat hangers on one side of the room. The WiFi is very intermittent! There is also no lift, so you will have to haul your luggage up a few flights of stairs. There is a water fountain in the reception area and guests are free to fill their bottles, reducing plastic waste. Note that accommodation can only be paid for in cash, not by card.||||Breakfast is served from 0700-0830 on a beautiful roof terrace with a great view over Puerto Ayora. It is table service with hot drinks, eggs, toast, butter, jam and juice.||||It is in a great location for all of Puerto Ayora’s amenities and proximity to the port, and there is a brilliant tour agency next door to the property – I ended up booking all of my island travels with them as they knew absolutely everything I...
Read moreMy family and i stayed for five nights here and every day we were treated well by the staff who were very helpful and kind. Gloria's son, the manager, was wonderful in finding us tour guides and taxis for our trips around the Galapagos. in addition he ensured the breakfast he made for us was just as we wanted it to be and went out of his way to ensure our experience was optimal. ||the only things which could be improved on is the slow wifi as well as the fact the water that comes out the shower is not in sync with the temperature you turn the dial onto; some days the water will never turn hot, others the water stays cold and then in an instant turns boiling when you least expect it.||besides these two issues, The Gloria, Galapagos Inn is a good place to stay with friendly staff and residents. the location is a bonus as it's close to the harbor, supermarkets, shops and...
