The best Airbnb-experience ever!
The place was totally quiet and well-kept. Air Condition worked flawlessly – We could cool down the room to 20° C. The bed was comfortable and VERY wide. The room was decorated with beautiful pictures and the plants in the yard were just breathtaking.
We found the room spacious, also the fridge (it's not as "mini" as stated in the ad)
The best of it all was the host – Patricia. She was so kind and made EVERYTHING to make us happy. We needed a blender – she gave us a blender. We needed sugar – she gave us sugar. We needed advice for tours – every day, she gave us the best advice possible because she had worked for the National Park for years. During our 8-night stay she cleaned the room twice and thoroughly. I'm sure most hosts would just have cleaned once. The cleaning and drying service was quick and free. Patricia even granted us a free late check-out
By far the best value for money in Puerto Ayora: For all that we paid just 45 USD / night (plus Airbnb fees).
Downsides are hard to find. The kitchen was quite small so cooking was a bit complicated. The jakuzi was closed, probably due to Covid. It's a bit far from the center so we rented bikes. But with the bikes we reached the center quickly. Patricia was sometimes late with the breakfast I mention these points rather in sake of completeness so you know this is a real review ;).
All in all it was just an...
Read moreThree adults stayed in an upstairs 3 bedroom apartment for 5 days in February. Patricia is a lovely host and kept the apartment very clean. She served us a nice breakfast each morning on a pretty covered patio. Blue House is located a bit off the main street in an area that has other small hotels and is otherwise residential. It is a 5+minute walk to the road (Charles Darwin) and another 5+ to get to the dock area. We did not mind this but some might. There are taxis (white pickups) everywhere however, and they are cheap. ||The apartment had AC only in two of the bedrooms and was otherwise muggy in February. But if you think you are not going to be sticky and hot in the Galapagos in February, go elsewhere. There was a kitchen in our apartment in OK shape. However, one would be hard-pressed to actually cook as there were no basics beyond salt and pepper. There was the minimum for dishes. We did make popcorn, and eggs and the full sized fridge was a bonus. The bathroom always had enough hot water. There is a nice area off the back of the apartment to hang wet items which we found very useful. All in all this palace is a very good value as the apartment is quite large if a bit tired. Spotty WiFi is available. We do not speak any Spanish but this was not a hindrance as Patricia's...
Read moreWe traveled as a family and had two suites- the 3-bedroom/1.5 bathroom two story 2nd floor unit and the ground floor one. The upper floor suite is cooled by breeze (having windows on opposite walls) and the ground floor one is air conditioned. Both are very clean and well equipped. The floor/wall finishes may be not to everyone's liking but the overall feel is great- beds are very comfortable, linens are of good quality and the vibe is very positive. Proprietors are great people who provide amazing top notch customer service!!! ||The location is very convenient to the heart of downtown, the Darwin station and a small swimable beach (located on the way to the Darwin station). The immediate neighborhood is a mix between residential and small hotels. It felt very safe. We really...
