Hyde Park House Hotel — Hotel in Alexandria

The five-star rating is only there for the service. The receptionists are very friendly and understanding. They offer the best service and way of handling. The place may need to be renovated but you pay for where you stay so it isn't a big deal. The bathroom has a heater and a sea view, yeah. The beds are not all comfortable and you might need to bring your sheets with you to ensure maximum hygiene. Don't expect to be tall and very comfortable when it comes to stretching your legs. The view from the 8th floor is breathtaking where you get a full view of the sea and specifically blue sea. It gets very cold at night but that is what people address in Alex. Close to facilities and downtown so it saves the cost of transportation and the hassle of the traffic jam. Again, five is for the service, good stay...

We stayed for a couple of days in summer of 2019. The hotel is located in two top floors (I think 10th & 11th floors) in an old building. Our room was on the 11th floor and the elevator does not operate there, we can only stop at the bottom one and continue using the stairs which is problematic if you have heavy suitcases. The bad things were: big cleanliness issue in the hotel and rooms, no elevator for the top floor and no room service. Bed are not comfortable and sheets seem to be used and some were not clean. A hotel with incredible views and amazing potential it is let down by its dirt dust and filth. After asking for my sheets and room to be cleaned at least three times, the bed linen remained stained, filed with dirt and hair, the toilet surfaces were covered in dust the fridge had black mould around it and the staff seemed offended when I complained about the cleanliness...if this hotel could fix the basics in cleanliness and invest in a decent hoover (most carpets are filled with dust, grime and dirt) it could been Alexandria’s finest hidden gem. As it is however the choice is what do you value more an incredible view or a dirt ridden mattress...the choice is yours! Picture evidence of dirt...
