CafĂ© de la Paix in Alexandria, opened in the late 19th century, has numerous illustrious visitors was E.M. Forster, who frequented the cafĂ© while writing Alexandria: A History and a Guide during his time in the city. Lawrence Durrell, author of The Alexandria Quartet, likely found inspiration here as well. The cafĂ© also attracted statesmen like King Farouk of Egypt, who visited during his reign, and Winston Churchill, who stopped by during his time in the region during World War II. The cafe survived two World Wars, the colonial era, and waves of change in Alexandria’s identity, all while retaining its 19th-century charm. Some notable facts about CafĂ© de la Paix: Opened in the late 19th century, it is one of Alexandria’s oldest cafĂ©s. Hosted cultural icons like E.M. Forster, Lawrence Durrell, and Umm Kulthum. Visited by political figures including Winston Churchill and King Farouk. Known for its vintage dĂ©cor, including mirrors, chandeliers, and marble tables, which remain unchanged. It has been a meeting point for intellectuals, artists, and leaders for over a century. In January 2025, unlike the other famous cafe around the corner, Trianton, it doesn’t have a working WiFi and the beef was just ok. Highly recommended to visit though

well,to start with this cafe location is just incredible, sea is right in front of it so you going to have cool nice breeze hitting you the entire duration of you stay, the internal decorations is nice, kinda ancient but that's a plus in my book i like the food it's very tasty, the staff is very polite but the service is slow compared to other cafes i visited however if you don't mind it worth the wait, definitely one of best cafes i visited currently in Alexandria. sorry for the missed up picture but i swear it looked nice before hahaha.

This Cafe is a must visit if you are in Alexandria and let me tell you why. First of it's in a historic building dating back to 1934 and it's pretty comfy as well as it's design is vintage which gives off amazing vibes. Second of all, the staff of the cafe is amazing. Incredibly friendly, polite and helpful. I remember the second day we came to eat brunch at this place the waiter Amu Abdu came all the way from upstairs to us (sitting outside) just to greet us. And then there was the Maitre Kareem who served us that day (amazing service) and when I was asking him where to buy books, he took his time and showed me the way to the bookstore. And the food is so good, the quality and taste is out of this world 😍. The view is one of the best a cafe can have. And the prices are incredible. Mark my words, if you come to Alexandria without visiting this Cafe you are missing out. And give these gentlemen a nice tip,...
