City View Palace Hotel — Hotel in Cairo

The hotel itself is good enough, it's central and the hotel floor is good. But the way the stuff has acted confirms other reviews: They're scammers. I had to pay a three bed room even if they gave me a two bed room. When I reported the problem they made excuses to not to fix the disservice. But the thing that really annoyed me was the tours price that they provide: overpriced for no reason. They say they provide quality but I ended up with a guide that barely spoke English and was rushing all the time to leave the places to visit and take us to shops to make us buy souvenirs. A lot of time wasted that we could have spent visiting the tour places. The second tour we asked only for a driver and we ended up in a broken car where we had to breathe engine smoke all the way to the destination and back. These workers are not licensed guides and drivers, they are their friends or family members. I could have booked these tours with a company for the same price and many more services and qualities, included real guides and drivers. For what they provide I would have paid less than half the price and we also tried tours with companies, a completely different experience. They also say that it's not possible to pay with card but only cash so that's impossible to keep track of the transactions and they make no receipts. So it's been frustrating and we felt tricked...

Would not recommend this hotel.

The rooms were ok, and Mustafa (I guess he was the piccolo) was super super nice. However we were treated quite bad by the staff there.

1. On the first day when we came back from dinner we were told that we needed to move to another room the following day (with no explanation) and had to change our plans to accomodate this. The new room was smaller and just at the reception so it was noisy at all times.
2. We had agreed to pay on the last day, but on the second day after our daytrip, the first thing the receptionist said to us when we entered the reception was “do you have my money? You pay now”. I told them I needed to go to an ATM first, and that I could pay in the evening after dinner, so I had time to go to an ATM. They continued saying “you pay now! Now!” and basically forced me to go to the ATM straight away, with one of their staff escorting me to there. The whole thing felt like they were running a mafia operation.
3. When asking for a hairdryer and some water, the receptionist proceeded to try and sell me a boat tour of the nile and ignoring my request. I had to go a second time...
