From the moment we arrived, we knew our stay at Abouda Guesthouse was going to be something special. Nestled within an authentic Nubian village, the location is truly unbeatable. It feels like stepping into a different world, peaceful and full of charm.
The highlight of our trip was undoubtedly the owner, Mohamed Abouda. He is beyond kind and accommodating, going above and beyond to make us feel at home. He helped us with everything from organizing a trip to Abu Simbel to showing us around the island and introducing us to his family. His generosity and easygoing nature made our experience unforgettable.
The guesthouse itself is clean, comfortable, and wonderfully decorated in a traditional Nubian style. The rooms are airy and have stunning views of the Nile. Each room has its own AC, fridge, fan and water heater. The rooftop terrace is a perfect spot for enjoying a delicious breakfast or watching the sunset over the water. We loved everything about our stay, especially the warmth and hospitality of our host. It's a must-stay if you're visiting Elephantine Island!
The ferry ⛴️ to the mainland only costs 10 Egyptian pounds and is located one minute away from the guesthouse.
We also loved that we were next door to Bob Marley’s Restaurant as they have some of the best food...
Read moreWe really enjoyed our time staying here! The rooms are very comfortable (clean, AC, good shower, etc) and the wifi is surprisingly good for Egypt (I was able to stream videos easily, not only from our room but even from the nearby restaurants). The owner Mohammad is a very nice man who can help with planning all kinds of activities or even just give information about Nubian customs and culture. When my wife booked this place, I was a little hesitant about staying on the island because I thought it might be inconvenient, but it's actually the best place to stay in Aswan. It's much more peaceful and quiet and there are regular ferries (very close to the hotel) to take you to the mainland for only 10egp per person ($0.30). I can definitely recommend...
Read moreThe guest house has a lovely location on Elephantine Island with stunning views across the Nile from the roof terrace. It's easy to reach the island by public ferry which runs until about midnight and the guest house is near to the ferry stop. The whole place is extremely clean, the rooms are en-suite, attractive and well equipped. The Nubian style breakfast is tasty. But what makes the stay here most special is the people. Abouda and his family are so welcoming and helpful. They can arrange any trips (felucca sailing excursions, camel trips, visits to the temples, dinner at a Nubian village etc) and readily share stories about Nubian life and culture. I had a...
