A third party tour company booked my accommodations at Le Meridien Pyramids Hotel & Spa. Through the tour company, I had the option to pay an additional fee to upgrade from a 4-star to a 5-star hotel (Le Meridien). My first impression when I arrived to my room at Le Meridien was that the 5-star scale is certainly by Egyptian standards. By U.S standards, Le Meridien would be 3-star, at best. My room was very dated, my bed was very messily "made," there was a food stain on my comforter, the toilet was not functioning, and there was hair in the sink and tub, as well as grime all over the tub. However, reception was extremely sweet and immediately sent someone to fix the toilet, someone to bring me a plug adapter since I'd forgotten mine, and housekeeping to clean the bathroom. After housekeeping left from cleaning my bathroom, I realized a lot of the dirt is deeply ingrained in the surface of the tub and non-removable at this point. As a germ-freak, this really put me off and I never showered without shower shoes. I felt very afraid to touch any surfaces within my own "5-star hotel room." The toilet broke again the same night it was "fixed", at which point I gave up on having maintenance in and out of the room. The shower water leaked outside of the tub (due to poor architecture) and flooded my bathroom throughout my entire stay. Also, if you're a light sleeper, ask for a room that does not face the hotel entrance. Thursday is the end of the week for Egyptians and it gets VERY loud outside with car horns and music about at late hours. The walls seem paper thin, as I could hear everything and had a hard time sleeping. And, as mentioned in many other reviews, the WiFi is non-existent. I burned through my personal data at Le Meridien. It is mainly for these reasons that I give the hotel 3 stars. Outside of these caveats, (though major) Le Meridien does has some positives:
1). The staff was so extremely sweet and accommodating at all times. Anytime I needed anything, they were prompt in answering my requests and they seemed genuinely happy to help each time. One time when I ordered room service, the server didn't bring all of the condiments and while waiting for him to bring them, my food got cold. The kitchen immediately sent up a plate of complimentary fruits due to the inconvenience. I did not eat the fruits, as they looked dried up, but the gesture was kind. Whenever you return to the hotel, doormen are there to tell you "welcome back." Generally, everyone is very smiley and kind.
2). The food is amazing and, for a hotel, prices are decent. The complimentary breakfast features a diverse spread of food (cold and hot). There's an outdoor grill where you can order delicious barbecue, and the indoor restaurants also have great food and drinks. As mentioned, the staff is very friendly as they're serving you and helping you take away dirty dishes.
3). The amenities were by far my favorite part. The pool deck, spa, and gym are amazing. Of course, the view of the pyramids from the pool deck is breathtaking. I didn't get to take advantage of the jacuzzi and sauna, due to my busy touring schedule, but I got two massages since they're so affordable. (About $36 for a 50-minute full body massage). The spa environment was relaxing and my therapists were awesome. I highly suggest the deep tissue neck, back, and shoulder massage for athletic or over-stressed folks. My only complaint is that the last swim for the pool is at 6:30 pm, so I never got to actually get in the pool. Late night swims are standard in most 5-star hotels. I spent most of my day(s) touring and would've loved to come back for a late night dip, especially when the sun isn't blazing, but unfortunately I did not get to experience the pool at all.
Overall, it is my understanding that Le Meridien is scheduled to undergo major renovations. Based on my experience, I'm not completely adverse to visiting Le Meridien again if appropriate changes are made and preferably with a room upgrade. The hotel has a lot...
Read moreDear Sir/Madam,
I'm writing this review as of my stay in Le Meridien Pyramids hotel since last January, almost 8 months now; These complaints in this review are from a vast experience in hotels around the globe to list some cities, Barcelona, Madrid, Torino, Milano, Rome, Istanbul, Dubai, Mykonos, NewYork, Las Vegas and a lot more; So any complain you'll see here is out of comparison to a lot of reputable hotels.
The silliest policy of all time : No food and beverages are allowed from outside the hotel, This is the first hotel that I've encountered to have this policy running. I've been staying at your hotel for almost 8 months and still you can't let me bring my own food? this is just uncomprehending to my mind. With the security door staff being rude and the duty manager when I bring my food, saying that I'm not allowed inside I can seriously tell that this hotel doesn't respect his loyal guests. Disregarding that I always pass by fast food bags in the corridor in front of some rooms, so this policy is running on some people only I guess? I won't accept any disrespect from any staff member anymore.
If you have this policy in the first complaint running all the time, then I believe you should attract me to eat your food even more because I hate hotel food. Just like hospitals to me.
Slowest deliveries of all time; Why does it take an average of 25-30 minutes to deliver simple stuff, nothing to be prepared? Just like shampoos, conditioners, irons, water...etc? Why would I wait 30 minutes to take a shower?
Let's start with housekeeping with many sub-compalints under this topic:
They sometimes skip my room, I don't know how and why, doesn't happen much but it did happened around 3 times in the past 8 months
They sometimes do some silly move, which I hate from my guts, if they don't have the full supplies 1)Shampoo 2)Cond. 3)Shower Gel 4)Moisturizer, they sometimes put the same thing twice, like 2 moisturizers and no shower gel for example, that's plain stupid.
They skip the most important thing which should be there by default, WATER, and I'm talking about this current stay that's going to end tomorrow, I checked in last Sunday, it's Wednesday today and I still didn't get a single water bottle for 3 consecutive house keeping days.
Room cleanliness isn't always on point, I once found like 2 lollipop sticks on the floor in the same room.
To conclude, I'm obligated to this hotel just because of some business reasons, but when it comes to a personal level I'd never choose this hotel...

Stayed at the 6th level (Royal Club Guest) and the room was really similar to a 3 stars hotel. Really old carpet, roach in the bed (reason of 2 stars instead of 3), the room was given to us without towels and soap (we had to call and complain about this). No room wifi, only wifi available was in lobby and if there was a wifi purchase option we were never advised about it. Someone told me that there were rooms with #Pyramids view, was not informed about that either. It feels like a really secure hotel, there is a inspection boot for cars entering the hotel gate and there is a metal detector at the entrance as well as an x-ray machine. Swimming pool restaurant is nice and the food is ok however the buffet seem a little bit better ($25E£). Breakfast has a good amount of options to satisfy anyone. Near main attractions.
On our next trip we would like to stay at a different hotel with the same star rating to see the differences, I would stay again but won't be my 1st nor 2nd option.
No pictures because it did not impressed me.
Update: I made the mistake of forgetting my Jersey in the room, we called so they could hold it for me since we were going to stay at the same location on our last day. Jersey disappeared (I know for a fact that I left it in the hotel). Today, we arrive back at the hotel and I inquiry once again for the jersey and again they say that they didn't find anything. Fine, I get it is my fault, so I ask if I could make a claim and have a copy to give to my trip insurance. The Manager told me that they dont do claims for lost items... None sense, still it was my fault. My point is to not leave your things out or forget anything at this place because it will be gone.
Also, we stayed at the 2nd floor which I think is their basic room and even tho I thought it would be impossible to be different from the 6th floor, it is. It feels and it looks like a 2 and 1/2 hotel room. Please stay at the 6th floor, is worth the extra couple of $$.
Stay again? Will be my last very last option, Ill prefer to pay more just so I can feel more secure of my...
