I have recently moved to Cairo and have been trying different Indian restaurants. Pyramids backdrop at a Marriot property serving Indian food was an irresistible combination. Decided to try it this Friday and boy, I was disappointed.
I ordered their Gin Fizz for a cocktail. Look, feel, touch, smell that you get in a pricey cocktail was missing. Even the crockery used was as plain as it gets. No taste as well. I can mix better drinks at home without any experience or knowledge. Why should I pay them $ 12 for it. Their bartender must be fired, if they actually have one.
Coming to the food, we ordered samosa, chicken tikka and a soup for appetizers. The soup was a passable thing. The samosa filling was unimpressive. The tikkas were large tasteless pieces of chicken instead of juicy and succulent perfectly cooked with a nice marinate. It was so disappointing that we didn’t even order the main course. We didn’t even finish the appetizers , barring soup, and took the leftovers for the non Indian house help in order to not waste the food.
I have been to Marriott properties in multiple countries and this was the worst Marriot experience ever. I have always left their F&B service with a delight across the world, but the Moghul Room did...
Read moreI had a wonderful experience eating Indian food at this 5-star restaurant. The Moghul Room offers high quality Indian food. All of the food was so flavorful! I especially loved the Lamb Biryani and Palak Paneer. Marian, the restaurant manager, was also very pleasant, friendly, and welcoming. She was so nice to talk to and even offered a complimentary dessert (Gulab Jamun), which was out of this world! For sure, this is the best Indian food that I have tried in Egypt. The ambiance of the place is also very authentic and serene. I am already planning my next trip to Mena House with some friends just for their delicious Indian food and...
Read moreThis restaurant is located inside the Mena House Hotel (Marriott). I am not Indian myself so I cannot really tell you if it super authentic or not. However, what I can tell you that it was really really good. I only gave it 4 stars because the drinks were terrible. I ordered two different drinks and both didn't not taste good (as in I didn't not drink them). Service was good, but I have had better. If you are looking for some real good Indian food with an out of this world view, this is your go to place. You get to see the pyramids if you are seated outdoors. You cannot see the pyramids from most...
