Worst experience in Egypt, and the waitresses here are clearly RACIST. 최악의 인종차별 호텔 레스토랑입니다.
Based on the recommendation of a friend living in Cairo, we visited this place on the evening of May 30th. Before our visit, we called ahead to make a reservation, following advice that good seats with a view of the pyramids needed advance booking. During the call, we specifically requested seats with a clear pyramid view and were assured that as it was early evening, there were plenty of good seats available upon arrival.
Upon arriving at the restaurant and informing the waitress about our reservation over the phone, she promptly seated us without verifying the reservation name. Despite the fact that front row seats with pyramid views were available, she seated us in the second row. When we politely requested to sit in the front row, the waitress responded in a rather rude manner claiming that those seats were reserved. I explained that I had made a reservation over the phone and requested good seats, but she insisted that those seats were not available to us without checking our reservation details.
This was quite puzzling to me. Just ten minutes later, a Caucasian couple was seated right at the front table we had requested. When they asked if it was reserved, the waitress asked if they were staying at the hotel. They replied that they had not made a reservation and were staying elsewhere in downtown Cairo. I distinctly heard this conversation.
This confirmed the waitress's blatant dishonesty. Only after I complained to another manager did we finally get seated at the vacant front row table.
This experience was the worst of our Egypt trip, and I hope other Asians do not encounter such unfair treatment. It's appalling to encounter such blatant racism and lack of professionalism from a waitress at a 5-star hotel. Furthermore, their continued lies and refusal to apologize left me deeply disillusioned with their attitude...

Positives: The place has a stunning view of the pyramids from its courtyard and there are plenty of tables for dining. Its beautiful water feature is a great spot for photos. The time I arrived, my hotel did not end up making a reservation on my behalf so when I got there there were no tables available. In saying that, the hostess was an absolute star! She told me to give her some time so she could find a table for me. I think I waited maybe only 10-15 mins while I took photos before a table was ready. (Marriott Mena Hotel Management, take note!) we also got to enjoy the traditional Egyptian dance (floating skirt) was really cool to watch and the guy stopped by our table for photos and videos, which was a great experience.
Now, the negatives…Firstly, the waiters kept pushing us to go for the buffet which we were not interested in because we wanted to try local food, and the buffet was basically international fare. We ordered the Egyptian Mashawy which was a mixed meat grilled platter and honestly, the food was dry/burnt and we couldn’t tell what was what because the food was really dark as it was also dark at our table as well. We also ordered a mint lemonade mocktail but what they gave us had no real mint nor lemons. It came in a bright neon green and had a hint of menthol, which I assumed was the mint flavouring. I couldn’t get over the taste so did not finish the drink. Lastly, this is to no fault of the hotel but just for awareness that once the sun sets, the pyramids do not light up at night (like in the photos), so you’ll practically be staring out into the darkness (and stars) while you become an open buffet for the mosquitoes.
TLDR; Take the snaps, tip the hostess, stay for the show, skip the...
Read moreWe decided to visit a restaurant inside the Marriott Hotel near the Pyramids based on a friend’s recommendation. We stopped by for lunch before our flight and informed the waiter, after calling them multiple times, that we were in a hurry to get to the airport. We ordered a burger and a shawarma sandwich.
Unfortunately, we waited for over an hour for our food. Despite our driver already arriving and waiting, the food still hadn’t been served. We tried to leave three times, but each time, the staff insisted we wait, saying, “Just two more minutes,” or “Five more minutes.”
On the third attempt to leave, one of the waiters finally came out with the burger, but the shawarma sandwich was still not ready. By that time, we had no choice but to leave. The burger, which we didn’t even eat, was awful.
From the start, the service was disappointing. When we arrived, we asked to be seated at a table with an umbrella, as the available table was in direct sunlight. We mentioned that we’d move to a shaded table once one became available. But we stayed the whole time at the sun .
The real frustration came when the food took so long, and our driver was waiting for us. The staff’s behavior during this time was completely unprofessional. Instead of addressing the issue, they laughed at our frustration. One lady even told me to “smile,” completely ignoring the fact that they had created a serious inconvenience for us.
It was evident they couldn’t handle the number of customers but didn’t bother to communicate that to us. If they had, we could have made other plans. Instead, they kept wasting our time with poor service and unprofessional behavior.
This experience was unacceptable, unprofessional, and showed a complete disregard for their customers’...
