Most rooms don’t have ac and private bathroom. They’ll try to give you either ac and shared bathroom or a private bathroom and a fan (no AC) even if your booking shows both. Both times we checked in, they gave us the wrong room. caution: they’ll try to make you cancel your third party bookings. do not do this. We had to give in because we had already paid the second reservation together with the first and they refused to refund even though they could not give us the room we booked (private bathroom and AC) neither time. Staff: none of them helpful including owner. We dealt with owner second time we checked in and he’s the one who had us waiting at midnight for our room and would not give us key until we cancelled our online reservations even when there was tech issues on the app. I told him multiple times we were tired (woke up at 3:30am that day and traveled 12 hours from Aswan and Abu Simble ) and if he can give us key for room already paid two days before, but he cared little for our rest and a lot about his third party booking cut. We also had a flight the next morning at 7am. If this is the owner treatment, tells you how the staff operate. check in: Terrible service from the moment we walked in. We waited 45 min while they “checked” the room. The room they gave us only had a fan, not AC. When we showed them our booking for a room with AC they said all those rooms were fully booked, so after another hour of them figuring out what to do, they sent us to another hostel: Bob Marley Sherief. It was a 15 min walk in 42 Celsius weather and they did not help with luggage. After arriving at Bob Marley we waited another 45 min for them to get the room ready. Staff at Bob Marley were much more helpful during our stay-no problems here. After two days in Aswan, we returned to grand square for a last night after they would not give us a refund for the second reservation. They assured us they would have the room ready for us when we got back. Second check in: Instead of giving us the room they guaranteed they had ready for us, they had us cancel our third party bookings on the spot because they take their cut. Owner refused to give key until we did this and had us wait another 45 min to get the room ready (at this point it’s past midnight. We tell them we’re tired, want to sleep, and can talk in the morning). However, the owner did not care and forced us to cancel even though we paid them the full amount for three nights total as the booking reservations in the apps stated on our first check in. After canceling, they had us wait another 20 minutes because they were getting the room ready. The room they gave us did not have private bathroom (our booking was for ac and private bathroom) and we were missing a pillow. We wasted 4 hours checking in both times which we could have used during our limited exploring time in the city. We wouldn’t have come back but they refused to give us refund for last night. Very disappointed. They also kept the money from the third party booking cancellations. Room: beds are extra, extra firm. room 101 had one of the beds flipping at the slightest touch. dangerous and easy to get hurt. The first reservation, they gave us a room in the upper floors and these floors do not have AC. As it’s 42 degrees Celsius, it is still very hot and fan does close to nothing. They will also tell you to sit down and wait (about 20-45 minutes) because they are getting room ready when you check in. They should already have rooms ready at check in time so don’t understand why they had us sitting around at MIDNIGHT getting the room ready. very inconsiderate. We had heavy travel days so all we wanted was the room we booked so we can sleep during the few hours there (we had to leave early to airport). We told them how tired we were (awake since 3:30am!) and if they can hand over key to the room that was already paid and all they cared about was getting the money from the third party cancellations.
Showers: The shared bathrooms flood as the shower drain doesn’t work (first floor). There’s only one...
Read moreIt's a good decent price compared to the overpriced hostels around but a few things affected my stay. Firstly the bed is quite hard so I had a bit of a sore back. When I opened my balcony door in the morning my whole room smelt like horse litter as there is a horse kept just outside the entrance. At night it woke me up one time. Bathroom really needs more cleaning but the water pressure is great of you don't mind cold or warm (not hot) showers. However as for receiving breakfast from this place..do not do this. The fridge and kitchen area is very very dirty and unhygienic. I felt sick the whole day after a breakfast they cooked and served on dirty saucepans and plates. Owner did pick me up from train station and organised a good price for me for the tour everyone does to west bank. My room only fan . Great location just 5 min walk to train station and 3 minute walk to one of main streets and television street where heaps of restaurants ans shops. 15 minute walk to Luxor temple. 30 min walk to Luxor Museum. For the price overall it was fair, manager really is a nice guy just dont eat...
Read moreThe hostel is new but it seems like the construction team didn't do their job well in terms of unproportioned were you can notice in the sizes of stairs, room doors etc. But as a solo female traveler I felt safe and comfortable staying here. I booked for private room with a very cheap prize including breakfast. Don't expect too much for the room but its very ideal who prefers practicality since all time of the day is staying outside. The staff and manager (Medo) are very kind and helpful. Medo even picked me in the bus station going to hostel. He is also aware that there are lots of things to improve in his hotel and happy to hear feedback for improvement. Location is just walking distance from train and bus station, Luxor temple and shops. There rooftop is a good venue for free hotair balloon show every morning, toilet has bidet, free use of washing machine + free laundry soap. They also offer very affordable price for West &...
