This hostel Sweet Hostel or New Everest Hostel is a scam. Don’t book in this place. We booked a night in this hostel. They offered to rent a car for 1000 EGP to take to the west bank and east bank. The driver's name is Abduh an old man. But, took us to the west bank and east bank, he dropped us at the port and told us to use the boat to cross the Nile River for 100 EGP per person. We were two, so we paid 200 EGP to cross the river and his friend picked us up on the west bank. His friend’s name Ali took us to some places that we asked however he also took us to many stores that we would not visit such as souvenir shops, stone stores, and papyrus stores. Even though we told him not to take us, he still took us. Then Ali said that he would take us to Karnak Temple (in East Bank) but we had to add more than 200 EGP (compensation that we did not back again in East Bank plus tip for that. And after visiting Karnak, Ali told us to call Abduh to pick up us. When we called Abduh that we have done, he said would pick up but he came more than 30 minutes late. After that, he drops into the Hostel. When we arrived hostel, we want to meet the owner, his name Ali too, but he didn’t show up. Only Abduh and some kids worked in that place. Please don’t book in this place. They employ kids as laborers to clean toilets and rooms, and to bring our luggage to the room. The place is also dirty. Our room does not have a key, so we should ask to keep our luggage in another room. The neighborhood also has a lot of scams in the stores and streets. They will charge you more to buy drinks, and some of them ask you something and want to take you to some...

(Beware: Unfortunately, some locals on the street try to talk you out of staying at the hostel by telling untruthful stories.) This hostel is reasonably priced.||Breakfast was hot, and the eggs were good! Bread, tea, can coffee are served, but there are not other choices. ||It is in the perfect location for the sites! It was so great to always find our hostel not far away after a long hot day of sightseeing. The staff can make arrangements for tours, tickets, and transportation.||The owner's young son is ready to help and is extremely strong. He carried our suitcases up several flights of stairs (no elevator). Being the last stop on our trip, we had plenty of weight from souvenir shopping too.||The shower was not enclosed in our particular room, and the water seeped out the bathroom door a little bit. A towel...
Read moreMixed feelings about this hostel. First, the bookings were not properly managed. I learnt my dorm bed was oversold when checking in. The owner offered another hotel room, but I chose to wait for them to clean up an unused room as the hotel was rundown. And there’s little hostel atmosphere - the only hangout place is the rooftop with no view and mostly only for breakfast. The staff looked languid all the time except an elderly man who was fairly helpful. A house cleaner even asked me for money by my bed after sorting out another guest’s bed in the dorm. The owner stopped her after I rang. Overall I think it can be option if you’re looking for a quick stay near the train station despite its above-the-average hostel...
