This hotel is all about location, you have a fantastic view of the Nile and the valleys of the Queens/Kings, the Nile has a steady flow of river cruise vessels and local boats, you are in walking distance of some of the major Luxor historical sites on the west bank.
Staff were friendly, helpful and very approachable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here even though we have made some negative points that we felt were important.
The swimming pool floating on the Nile was unique and a brilliant idea who ever thought of it. On the pontoon there is also a bar which can cater for your drinks and snacks. There is a bar football game but the ball went missing and I was never able to play, as were the table tennis and darts which were not unavailable during our stay.
The Wi-Fi worked in most areas but at a very low bit rate around 3-4mbit, so get yourself a local sim card at the airport or shop in Luxor.
We stayed here over numerous days so have a very good idea of what you will expect.
The corridors and rooms are carpeted which is great for keeping the noise down in the rooms as there is a continual churn of guest and as we all know some can be quite noisy with their cases.
Room size is probably the narrowest we have ever stayed in Egypt, if you open the draw at the foot of the bed you cannot get passed to the bathroom. Water pressure in your bath / sink is very low and temperature can take a while to get to the desired level on the upper floors.
There are some large Mango trees on the terrace that may obstruct your view of the Nile River depending what floor your room is on. These trees are nightly host to the local bird population and the cacophony of sound made just before dusk is amazing.
Some guests have complained about the noise from the road but we did not feel this was a major problem on the top floors.
We felt a little let down at times as we were not informed in advance of any restaurant closures/changes as we could have made alternative arrangements.
The buffet restaurant was a little repetitious and the taste a little bland. At times in the restaurant we had to get our own cutlery, as the table’s were not always fully set. Also in the restaurant there appeared to be more managerial staff than front line employees. If you ordered ice cream for your sweet it could take a long time to arrive even after a number of reminders.
This hotel has the potential to be a fantastic place to stay, unfortunately we found it lacking in many areas. This is becoming typical of this generation of hotel needing a major refurbishment not just a...
Read moreWe initially booked a bedroom with large bed but were given a room with twin beds (room 420), with the explanation that this was subject to availability. We were then offered room 520, which is a bedroom with a queen bed, but it had several issues: it was quite dark, the air conditioning was inadequate, and there was only one spare power outlet available for charging devices. The other outlets were occupied by bedside lamps, the refrigerator, and the TV, so there was no extra outlet for something like a kettle. We were instructed to unplug the bedside lamps in order to charge our electronics, all while the room was already dim (there were no ceiling lights except for outside the bathroom). The hotel staff was not flexible when it came to offering an upgrade to a river-facing room (which would be brighter), and we were asked to pay extra (discounted rate) for such an upgrade. Ultimately, we decided to stay with the original room (420) as the air conditioning worked slightly better. I booked this hotel through Agoda because the photos appeared nice, but in reality, it didn’t meet expectations. When I mentioned to the hotel manager that the room appeared brighter in the photo, he replied that photos are never an accurate representation of reality. The Wi-Fi strength is weak, the amenities are subpar, and the bathroom looks outdated, the shower water pressure was too low. Not to mention, at 3:30 AM, the air conditioning stopped working, disrupting my sleep. When I called reception for help, someone came to check, but no one returned for over an hour, the lights in the room also weren’t functioning, I had to go to the reception in person to report all my complaints. The power was restored at 5:11 AM, and since the room faced the lobby, I could hear people talking from 4 AM onward. My stay was unpleasant due to the lack of goodwill from the staff when complaints were made, and the constant focus on charging for upgrades. I would not stay here again if I visit Luxor.
A small note of appreciation for the hotel: the view was incredible. Since we had an early hot air balloon ride at 5:40 am, we missed the opportunity to enjoy the included breakfast at the hotel. However, the hotel kindly prepared a breakfast box for us to take on the go. Unfortunately, one of the water bottles was already opened and used, the other box contained orange juice without a straw, and both yogurt packs were missing spoons, making it impossible for us to eat them. Fortunately, we returned to the hotel before 10 am and were still able to enjoy the...
Read moreI was very impressed with this hotel compared to other hotels in Luxor. This hotel at Khaled Ibn El Waleed Street, East Bank, 99999 Luxor, Egypt, Was a really delightful hotel, friendly staff and management. The chef's and waiters very friendly. Great breakfast buffet with the moist delicious Hibiscus ice tea purple in colour (a must to drink - very healthy for you) , absolute value for money.
The rooms are spacious, we had a room with a stunning view of the Nile and The Valley of the Kings. Our room had a kettle and cups with a few coffee sachets. Ask them to replenish or just buy a few. Watching the Cruise liners, Dahabiya's and feluccia's on the Nile was a highlight. I loved sitting on the terrace sipping a cup of tea and in the evening drinking an ice cold Sakara Beer or Stella. Remember the Ancient Egyptians invented beer, so do partake they really make delicious beer. They have a buffet/ set menu for dinner and a terrace menu with light meals. In the garden they have a Chinese restaurant which serves lovely and inexpensive meals. Very well situated about a 10 minute walk from the Winter Palace (An Iconic Hotel) where Howard Carter and Lord Canarvon would stay. The Famous Authoress of Death on the Nile Agatha Christie also stayed in the timeless hotel..
There is a Bank ATM on the corner over the road from the hotel. The Souk Savoy Market is also a lovely to place to shop for trinkets and replica antiquities to take home. Luxor Temple and Luxor Museum is not to far to walk, but why walk when the taxi's are so inexpensive. I absolutely loved this hotel with the inside reception and Lounge/foyer area having lovely plants and creepers cascading down from the rooms looking over the reception area. The hotel also has free wifi . There are taxi's at the Entrance door of the hotel and their tarrif's are very good should you want to go to The Valley of the Kings, Habu Temple etc, or the Airport. I highly recommend this hotel.
The Swimming pool is beautiful and refreshing after a day of sight seeing in the sweltering sun, it's situated very cleverly on a barge/ old Cruiser that you walk over a gang plank. So you are basically swimming on the Nile. This hotel is a must to stay at. Please make sure you stay at the Correct Iberotel Hotel a huge 5-6 story Building on...
