Kings Gate Cafe — Restaurant in Luxor City

I was looking for a local-food late-bite restaurant for my wife and I as we walked back to our hotel and found this great place. This is an open air restaurant with lots of tables, a beautiful view of the Nile and happy and loud music playing on the background. It was kind of late (probably 9 PM). Yet, lots of local families with children made the place feel alive and safe. We were probably the only tourists there, yet, we were greeted and welcomed in a very nice and kind way by a waiter. He spoke english. He helped us order from the menu and he got us seated. The food was promptly brought over and it was delicious. We paid cash and didn't ask if they took credit cards. I visited King's Gate Cafe in Luxor and had an amazing experience. The restaurant is located right by the Nile, so the view was absolutely breathtaking. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, and the staff were friendly and attentive.

I ordered the chicken pizza and oum ali, and both dishes met my expectations. The pizza was cooked to perfection, the cheese was melted just right. The oum ali was also a delightful treat. It was warm and comforting, with just the right amount of sweetness. It was the perfect way to end the meal.

We walked up and were greeted by a nice man. Upon looking at the menu it didn't seem that there were too many vegetarian options. He was super accommodating and said he could make two tajines for us that were just vegetarian. We agreed on a price with him beforehand and then sat down. The meal took a really really long time to make, but it appeared that everyone had been waiting a while. But it was ok, because when it did finally come it was completely delicious. The bread was wonderful, the tajines were so flavourful and filled with delicious aubergines and tomatoes and spices, the rice had the perfect texture and taste and the tahini was also very nice.
