Nice hotel but not up to standard the staff here in the front desk do there very best to make you happy to avoid bad reviews and will go out of there way to help you but fail to admit faults witch would give a much more satisfying end result I had to change my room 3 times due to poor air conditioning in 43 degrees heat wave the dails in the system in the room was turned right around past 10 degrees it should have been freezing however it was barely blowing cold air my family had a room next door with the same system without the dial problem the maintenance man came and cleaned all the filters and still tried to fob me off that it was working further conversations with him he admitted it wasn't right. The front desk staff where very swift on changing my room " not something you want doing after unpacking " Upon checking the new room to my shock it was exactly the same problem with the dial turned all the way to cold again it was not working. I was then shown 2 more rooms inside the building very nice rooms however to my absolute shock again both the rooms had exactly the same problem one was a little cooler than the other so to avoid more hassle I took the cooler one as i live part time in hurghada I knew full well I was being told lies about the system is working properly when it isn't why they cannot just admit there is a problem? I have been a regular guest at the steigenberger nile palace around the corner it is the same system you cannot sleep in the extreme heat in luxor without fully working air conditioning for a 5 star steigenberger in my opinion this is low standard generally overall the hotel is at reasonable but being a gardener/landscaper the grounds could do with some maintenance the plant beds are full of grass and weeds it's very messy . The rice pudding at breakfast is like a portion of cold milk not like this at the nile palace I'm assuming being a well know German chain the menus for the buffets would be the same with the same products orderd from the same companys the standard overall at the nile palace seems to be alot higher the cost addidng on the breakfast is 600 Egyptian per day I made a mistake with the booking through booking.com and requested to amend this via message to hotel however nobody had read the messages and then i was told it can't be amended there is quite a big difference in price when having to book it separately per day if you only want a coffee and some cerial this is robbery however making it clear this was no fault of the front desk related to the faults they did there best for me this is down to maintenance nkt adresing the issue to avoid costs likey but admiting there was a fault would of given me a much more satisfying answer. it seems that they will just keep trying to work around everything to avoid any negative reviews other than this it's not bad for the price the food and drink prices are high though 230 for sakara local beer "roughly " plus service charge and tax personally this is high it costs around 70 outside in pub not sure on nile palace prices however 1 hear ago the price for this was 130+taxes and for a kofta and chips was around 350 the cost for a kofta and chips here was at around 800 Egyptian here I cannot compare it to nile palace prices as not been there for a year one of the other restaurants is very expensive also there are local places you can get a decent meal for less than half of that is however If you can manage to get past the front gate with the aggressive local taxi mafia trying to sell you drugs and taxis i live in egypt in the winter there outside nile palace alos but the aggression with these people here is bad then they casually to my shock walk into the security office at the gate and sit with them drinking tea as if best friends this is for 1 a serious breach of security and safety to the front gate area for tourists why this being allowed? i have never seen this anywhere completely unacceptable these type of people are littlerly the local mafia they are very aggressive if told...
Read moreMy review will be based off of the Room, Food, Hotel overall style along with Hotel Staff Service. I stayed at this location from January 17th, 2025 - January 20th, 2025. My first major issue with this location has to be the taxi drivers/ horse buggy riders who constantly harass you if they spot you walking in & out of the location. The hotel has to hire new security who are willing to push them out of the location or have there local police push them out for harassing their guest. Literally everyday I went on a walk I was bothered and they don’t take you saying “no” initially in both English & Arabic it takes 10 plus times for them to get it. My last day I was an inch away from getting into a physical altercation with a taxi driver who didn’t take to me saying no personally, and got into my face. We both started to argue while security sat there in the booth watching us go back at it for about 10-15 minutes before the guy finally backed off and walked away. If it wasn’t for the fact we were standing on concrete and me restraining myself because I was on vacation I would’ve knocked this man out 30 seconds into him getting in my face and yelling. The hotel itself isn’t 5 stars at all. I’m actually mad they promote themselves like that online when they have a 5 star location roughly 10 mins away from this one. The moment I walked into the lobby I knew immediately whatever I booked wasn’t going to look how it did online. From the lobby to the elevator and the walk to my room everything was out dated. When I got into my room those suspicions was confirmed. Out dated bed needed to be changed along with majority of the furniture in the room it was just old. I booked a king size bed with a garden view room & didn’t see no garden at all just a couple of trees I could count on one hand. Bathroom had updated tiles but the bathroom pipes for the shower needed to be replaced or checked the shower was never hot mainly just warm. The tour guide lady who helped me out during the afternoon/night shift was amazing and helpful, thanks to her I’m giving this place 2 not 1 stars. The bar staff was also great and extremely helpful guys with good customer service skills. & I dealt with 3 representative at the front desk, 2 out of the 3 were good one of them just lack basic information on questions I had. I saw 4 resturant at the hotel & ate from 2, which was the buffet and bar. The buffet I only had for dinner which was a 1 out of 5 but never ate breakfast or lunch there so I’m not sure how it was. The bar food was a 2 out of 5 but the staff were good & friendly like I stated just the food wasn’t great. The Italian Resturant & middle eastern cuisine I never tried I only ate outside at the other location mainly after getting disappointed on the food. Overall this place needs a good renovation, food menu revamp and those taxi drivers/ horse buggy guys to be pushed from the hotel location, with security guards who are willing to do security and protect...
Read moreWe had a horrendous stay at Steigenberger Resort Achti and would not recommend it to anyone. This is a 2-star hotel at best, masquerading as a 5-star.
We arrived around 2:45pm and were made to wait 50 minutes for our room. While doing so, we saw many others check in without delay. The staff conveniently gave us an excuse that some types of rooms are prepared before others. The fact that the rooms were not prepared beforehand when they are expecting guests on the same day is unacceptable.
The cleanliness in our room (a bungalow room) was abysmal and barely existent. I killed two bugs on my bed and two more in the bathroom. We were also shocked to uncover what appeared to be insect eggs on the mattress.
Hotel staff were largely inattentive and nonchalant about any requests. Our requests for water in our rooms were ignored twice.
Our room cards stopped working one day into our 2 night stay and we had to walk 5 minutes to the reception to exchange them.
It is abundantly clear from a stroll around and outside the hotel compound that guests are being treated with contempt and no more than moving ATMs. Within the hotel grounds, hasslers are allowed to operate shops that overcharge tourists, much like those ubiquitous around Luxor's attractions. If you stay in the bungalow rooms, you will not be able to get to your room without being hassled and invited into the shops. While the hotel is located beside the Nile, pushy and aggressive felucca operators are invited to dock within the hotel to hassle tourists and shout "nihao" to every Asian they see in the distance. The hotel is located on a quiet street that is, once again, filled with pushy and shady characters offering horse carriage services and scammy taxi drivers. Even if one were to overlook the fact that there is nothing interesting in the immediate vicinity, even a couple minutes walk to the few nearby restaurants will prove too tiring with the constant stream of people looking to rip you off and the stench of horse poop. This was not the case for any other 5-star hotels which we passed by in Luxor. Why the hotel permits such disgraceful and shambolic scenes right outside its front door is anyone's guess.
The upshot of the above is this: if a hotel, a 5-star one at that, cannot even afford a safe haven for its guests to enjoy a peaceful stay and are unable get basic things such as cleanliness and room service in order, then in my opinion it is an utter failure. We will not recommend the Steigenberger brand to anyone who wants to create good...
