This hotel was probably at its peak 25/30 years ago; it is in desperate need of renovation. Overall, the decoration needs updating, electrics and wiring are dangerously exposed, furniture was incredibly worn/broken and the bath was scuffed.
In terms of my experience, despite staying in a suite after first being mistakenly put in a twin room, my bed was broken and creaked, the locks on my door and balcony doors were not working and the temperature unit rattled loudly and prevented sleep. There is no WiFi! You're given a code to connect but you'll be having to use roaming to access the internet. You will barely get WiFi in the reception area.
In terms of service, staff at the service desk were respectful and polite. I did however have trouble with housekeeping as no one had been in to tidy my room and, more importantly, replace my water bottles, even after making it obvious with the sign. I feel that the housekeeping manager was waiting for me to instruct him so that I'd have to tip him and not anyone else - this is the vibe I got from him on the first meet. The service staff in general waited around and wanted tips for the smallest of things which is not appropriate for a hotel that you're already paying $100 a night for.
I had lunch once at the restaurant and ordered grilled fish and vegetables. The fish came out fried. After explaining to the waiter who took my order that I'll happily eat the fish but I ordered grilled not fried he tried convincing me that it was grilled. As if I was stupid and would simply agree with him. After a back and forth of him trying to convince me and him "confirming" with the chef that it was grilled, I received my receipt, which read "FRIED fish and vegetables".
Upon check out, the guest relations liaison asked for feedback and was very sympathetic. She did ask why I had not raised these issues during my stay and I had to explain that until that point I had been in Egypt (Cairo and Luxor) for six days and being a tourist here is extremely exhausting with everyone trying to screw you out of money, trying to argue, and generally having poor manners towards you. The last thing I wanted was to argue with staff at a $100 a night resort where the service and facilities should, at the very least be decent. She explained that the hotel has recently exchanged hands, that plans are in place for a renovation and that I'd change my mind about it. As much as I appreciate that, it doesn't help me because I'll never be back in Egypt. The hotel manager reached out to me a day after I checked out via WhatsApp saying the same but again none of that matters to me now. What would have been appropriate would be for example refunding part of my stay.
There's not much difference in price between Pyramisa and the Steigenberger hotel a few blocks down the road. Though I can't speak for the rooms, I had two meals there during my stay and the facilities and service were miles apart. I'd recommend you stay there.
The first recommendation that I'd make is to get the locks on the doors fixed, which seems to be an issue raised across multiple review sites. This is a huge breach of safety,...
Read moreThe hotel needs urgently a restoration. Good location and wonderful view to the Nile. Kind people working in the reception and at the breakfast.
The room was old, the windows dirty, the carpet stinks, the corridors in the room are very hot and smell bad, and there’s no wifi.
I spent the night there because I had to, I arrived late to Luxor, but next day moved to a different hotel.
At one point, and I don’t know if this is normal in Egypt, but I was going to take the lift and there was a man coming out with a lit cigarette and the lift full of smoke.
Also, the a/c of the room was supposed to be working but we never felt it.
The only one very good thing about the hotel was the front desk manager, Mr Ali. He was very helpful and tried to sort out all the issues offering a different better room, he even offered a portable wifi, but the conditions of the hotel are terrible. I thank him for his very big efforts to make the guests happy. He was kind and polite. However, conditions of the hotel are not good and staying there would’ve ruined my holiday.
I must also say, the gentleman that offers the tours in Luxor, recommended by the hotel, a gentleman called Abdul, was of course trying to rip off with his prices. He was doing math as if I didn't know how to add, how convenient doing the math wrong “by mistake” and asking for more money to the tourists.
Prices should be standard and displayed for all tourist. Not this doggy moves everybody tries to do. It’s an amazing country with amazing culture, history and people. But being a tourist is exhausting because everybody tries to rip off with the prices of everything and shouldn’t be like that when this is one of your...

I stayed at Pyramisa Hotel Luxor for four days, and while the experience was mostly positive, there are some areas that need improvement.
Positives:
✔ Amazing Staff: The staff are friendly and always ready to help. Some might ask for a tip, but that’s quite normal in Egypt. ✔ Great Breakfast: The breakfast spread is excellent, with plenty of vegetarian options available. A great way to start the day! ✔ Best Room Views: Highly recommend booking a Nile or River view room—the scenery is simply stunning. ✔ Spacious & Clean Rooms: The rooms are large and well-maintained in terms of cleanliness, making the stay comfortable.
Negatives:
✖ Rooms Need Maintenance: While clean, the rooms require better upkeep. Some areas feel outdated. ✖ Bathtub Issue: The bathtub doesn’t have a valve, so water won’t stay in, making it useless. ✖ Bathroom Door Doesn’t Close Properly: The washroom door stays slightly open and won’t shut completely. ✖ No Iron in Room: If you need to iron your clothes, you won’t find an iron in the room, which is inconvenient. ✖ No Bathroom Slippers: Slippers are not provided. ✖ Hotel Contact Issues: If you are outside Egypt, contacting the hotel is almost impossible. Their email doesn’t work, and there’s no proper online support.
Final Verdict: Pyramisa Hotel Luxor is a great hotel with great staff, delicious breakfast, and fantastic Nile views. However, the maintenance issues, missing basic amenities, and lack of reliable contact options can be frustrating. If these are fixed, the experience would be...
