Immaculate hotel on the Nile
Myself and a friend stayed for three nights (half-board) in Room 512 (twin beds) in April 2024.
Pros: -Security on door with bag scanner. -Free WiFi throughout hotel (login required). -Check-in 3pm onward. -Clean and well-maintained premises. -Spacious Lobby - ground floor. -Three lifts to all floors. -Room 512 (5th floor) - spacious, twin bed room. Two door cupboard with hanging area & hangars, electronic safe. Large mirror. Large luggage rack with drawers. Swivel chair and table with drawers. Lamp. Small wall-mounted Samsung TV (English language channels include BBC World News and Euronews) with USB and HDMI ports. Two upholstered chairs & round table. Kettle, coffee & tea, two complimentary bottles of water. Fridge. Two single beds with a bedside table & lamp. Air-con. Southwest-facing balcony, which catches the sun, with two chairs & table and “side view” of Nile river & West Bank and onto adjacent hotel balconies, and pool area. Beautiful sunsets. En suite bathroom with shower-bath with grab handle, toilet, sink, towels, shaver socket, hair dryer, mirror, telephone. Thai restaurant and other restaurants, there was an extra charge on our half-board deal. -‘Lounge Bar’ - overlooking the Nile. -Nasco Tours desk. -‘Layali Zaman’ - authentic Egyptian atmosphere by the Nile. Boat trips available from here as well such as across to West Bank, Karnak Temple and Luxor Temple. -Souvenir and jewellery shops. -ATM cash machine. -Pool area (9am to sunset) - B1 floor. Towels by pool. Immediately adjacent to Nile river shoreline, as road located at front of hotel. Two pools (main pool and paddling pool) with plentiful summoners & parasols. Changing rooms. -Wonderful gardens with trees and flowering plants, which attracts birds. -Wellness spa - 6th floor. -Gym - 6th floor - Technogym equipment. -Checkout 12pm.
Cons: -Room - a larger screen TV would be an improvement. -I don’t believe staff from the Bazaar or Spa should approach hotel guests about their facilities when they are trying to relax. -Hotel - smoking permitted in certain areas.
Notes: -There’s a small convenience store adjacent to the hotel entrance selling soft drinks, water and a limited range of souvenirs. -In Luxor I visited Valley of the Kings, Temple of Hatshepsut, Temple of Medinat Habu, Valley of the Artisans - Deir el-Medina, Colossi of Memnon, Karnak Temple, evening felucca trip on Nile river, Luxor Temple & Avenue of Sphinxes. -Uber not available in Luxor, so we used Careem app...
Read moreMy partner, Marc, and I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Steigenberger Nile Palace, and I must say, it was an absolutely unforgettable experience. Not only did the hotel provide us with exceptional comfort and service, but they also played an integral role in making our engagement moment truly magical.
From the moment we stepped into the grand lobby, we were greeted with warm smiles and genuine hospitality. The staff at the Steigenberger Nile Palace went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was nothing short of extraordinary.
One of the standout features of our stay was the exceptional service we received from the kitchen staff. We had planned a surprise proposal, and the kitchen staff played a vital role in making it happen. We had shared our plan with the hotel in advance, and they went the extra mile to create a memorable moment for us.
On the evening of our engagement, we had a delightful dinner at one of the hotel's restaurants. Little did I know that the kitchen staff had conspired with Marc to conceal the engagement ring in a beautifully crafted cake. When the cake was brought out, I was completely taken aback. The presentation was flawless, and the taste was absolutely divine. It was a moment of pure enchantment, and I will forever cherish the surprise and joy that filled the air.
Beyond the engagement, the Steigenberger Nile Palace offered a truly luxurious experience. Our room was spacious, elegantly decorated, and provided stunning views of the Nile River. The attention to detail in the room's design and amenities was remarkable, ensuring our comfort and relaxation throughout our stay.
The hotel's facilities were equally impressive. We took advantage of the luxurious spa, where we indulged in rejuvenating treatments that left us feeling pampered and refreshed. The pool area was a tranquil oasis, offering a serene atmosphere to unwind and soak up the Egyptian sun.
Moreover, the hotel's central location allowed us to conveniently explore the vibrant city of Luxor. From the ancient temples to the bustling markets, we were able to immerse ourselves in the rich history and culture of the region, all within close proximity to the hotel.
Last but not least, the staff at the Steigenberger Nile Palace truly made our stay extraordinary. Their genuine warmth, attentiveness, and willingness to go the extra mile left a lasting impression on us. From the front desk to the restaurant staff, everyone ensured that our needs were met and exceeded.
Our engagement experience at the Steigenberger Nile Palace was nothing short of magical. The exceptional service, beautiful accommodations, and the heartfelt assistance from the kitchen staff made it an unforgettable moment in our lives. We wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a luxurious and memorable stay in Luxor. Thank you, Steigenberger Nile Palace, for making our engagement so...
Read moreI recently left a 3-star review on Google with minimal information because my phone was acting up, so I couldn’t type the full review properly but I was eager to express my disappointment.
So here I am with the full details of my experience. First, when I arrived at the hotel, the staff didn’t seem welcoming at all. It felt like I was at a ticket office rather than checking into a hotel. After handing over our passports, he started to explain the hotel facilities, like the gym, pool, and breakfast area. When we asked about the spa and whether the pool area had a jacuzzi or sauna, the front desk guy started acting impatient, keep saying the spa and sauna is a third-party service and he didn’t know the prices. Technically, all I wanted to know is if the facility have a sauna in the changing room for guest or not like some other hotel did. But I guess he didn’t understand it at all. What started as excitement for a pool and leisure experience by the Nile at a highly-rated hotel doesn’t seem excited anymore. Until the end of stay, I still don’t know if their pool and changing rooms have those features, as I didn’t bother to find out. Second, I booked an Executive Nile River view room. The front desk told us they upgraded us to a better room with a Nile view, so we thought, “Great!” But when we got to the room, we were speechless. It was a twin-bedded room on the second floor, at the tip of the U shape, closer to the Nile River. As a couple, WHY WERE WE GIVING A TWIN BEDED ROOM? The room didn’t seem nicer or bigger based on what I saw on Google and Expedia. When we called the front desk, they told us they only had one king or queen bed with a city view, presenting it as a take-it-or-leave-it situation. I called BS because I checked both Google and Expedia, and there were clearly more Nile River view rooms available for booking.
Btw, I did receive a handwritten postcard in Chinese saying you’d like us to contact your team to resolve the issue. I have to give credit to whoever wrote that; aside from the front desk, everyone else seemed professional and nice but my stay is over already, there is nothing I want from your hotel.
So, here’s why I’m leaving my 3-star review:
Mainly because of the front desk’s inappropriate attitude when I asked questions. He clearly didn’t understand fully before responding. We really don’t know if the upgrade was real or just a downgrade to us. It would have been BETTER IF YOU ASK YOUR GUEST PREFERENCE, DO NOT DECIDE FOR YOUR GUEST. Let us decide what’s best for our travel and room...
