Hôtel Molière — Hotel in Grasse

I very much enjoyed my stay at Hotel Moliere. The room was clean, comfortable, and quiet with a view of the front garden. The location was excellent, a few minutes to the beach and the bustling town center with amenities, shops, and food. The price was also very competitive. Most of all, I am grateful for the amazing staff at the front desk which was present 24 hours a day. They went out of their way to make visitors comfortable and to provide guidance on the best local amenities (Russian speaking in the morning, Finnish French and Brittany staff in the afternoon and evening). I booked 2 economy rooms. I would have never imagine that an economy room meant the horrible conditions that I encountered when I walked in to the room. The carpets were dirty and stained. The curtains were horribly dingy. The walls were scratched and peeling. The bathroom shower floor was dirty. It seemed like a jail cell. The room was nothing like the pictures shown on the website. An economy room in a 3 star hotel should live up at the least to the standards of 3 stars, this seems like a 1 star room. I actually considered just leaving and not staying the night. Zero empathy. Zero professionalism. We booked a room in this place on Tuesday to stay 3 nights after 1 week. On Wednesday we received very bad news about a close relative having serious medical condition and needed to cancel. We contacted the hotel after less than 24 hours to cancel but they declined to refund any amount of the money. What made me furious is the hotel is fully booked on the days we cancelled, meaning that they take our money into their pockets with no service and they didn't even lose anything. They could have offered a voucher or partial refund. Please think twice before...
