Title: A Dismal Dining Experience: An Overpriced Disaster
Rating: ★☆☆☆☆ (1/5)
I recently had the unfortunate experience of dining at [Salma restaurant ], and I can confidently say it was the worst restaurant experience I’ve ever had. For a staggering €900, I expected an unforgettable meal, but what I got was a nightmarish combination of poor service, subpar food, and an overall feeling of being ripped off.
Service: The service was atrocious from the moment we walked in. The staff seemed indifferent and inattentive, as if they couldn't be bothered with our presence. It took nearly 30 minutes just to place our order, and when the food finally arrived, it was delivered without any courtesy or care. Our waiter was unfriendly and dismissive, making the entire experience uncomfortable.
Food: The food was nothing short of a disaster. For the exorbitant price we paid, I expected gourmet dishes with impeccable flavors. Instead, we were served cold, bland, and poorly prepared meals. The ingredients didn't seem fresh, and the presentation was lackluster at best. It was clear that little effort had been put into crafting the dishes, which were far from being worth the premium price tag.
Value for Money: €900 for this level of quality is an absolute rip-off. I have had far superior meals at a fraction of the cost. The portion sizes were small, and the taste did not justify the cost. It's baffling that a restaurant could charge so much for such an inferior dining experience.
Conclusion: I would strongly advise anyone considering [Salma restaurant ] to look elsewhere. This was a disappointing and expensive lesson in what happens when a restaurant overcharges for mediocre food and dreadful service. Save your money and dine somewhere that actually values its customers. This place is a complete rip-off and not worth your...
Read moreMy girlfriends and I spent a very good night at Salama. The service was great, food and cocktails were excellent and the decor is super stylish. You really feel like in a modern restaurant in Marrakesh. I had a Bellini with peach purée (believe me, not easy to find in Cannes as most serve it with syrup) and the cod with side vegetables was juicy and tasted very fresh. We had the salad meshouia and the briouattes au fromage as a starter, both were fresh and tasted very good. The size of the starters are small, so you can easily order a starter per person. This is not your local cheap couscous place. It is a modern restaurant in Cannes with fresh food and a stylish vibe, so do expect higher prices.
I have read the reviews before about the lack of service, and rude behaviour, so was a bit apprehended. But the staff was excellent, very friendly and we could spend hours without being rushed. However, living in Cannes, I try to avoid going to restaurants during July and August. It is true that staff is super stressed, but that is no excuse to being rude and management needs to sort this out, as us locals do not forget. However, during those 2 months it is normal for restaurants to offer a table for max 2-2.5 hours, as they need to do 2 services per table (this is when they make the money to keep the doors open the rest of the year). So if you would like to spend your time during dinner, try to get a table for second service, or check with the restaurant...
Read moreI was really disappointed with my experience at Le Salama in Cannes. As a fan of Moroccan cuisine, I had high expectations, but unfortunately, they were far from met.
Firstly, the service was seriously lacking. We waited forever to be served, even for relatively simple dishes. The staff seemed overwhelmed and inattentive, which only added to the frustration.
As for the food, it was well below what I expected. The couscous was bland and lacked flavor, as if the spices had not been properly balanced. The tagine, which should be a rich and flavorful dish, was lukewarm and lacked that authentic Moroccan touch. For the price, the quality was simply not there, especially in a city like Cannes where you expect a certain standard.
Finally, the atmosphere in the restaurant did not live up to its reputation as a chic and authentic establishment. The music was too loud, making conversation difficult, and while the decor was nice, it couldn't make up for the poor quality of the service and food.
On top of that, we were surprised to be hit with a minimum charge, which we were forced to pay despite not having consumed enough to meet that amount. This felt unfair and left a sour taste at the end of what was already a disappointing evening.
In short, I wouldn't recommend Le Salama. It was a big disappointment for me, especially for a restaurant that claims to represent Moroccan gastronomy. There are far better options to explore...
