We had a delightful time at Hotel Madeleine! The connecting “family” rooms were very convenient and helped ensure we had space for four. As other reviewers have stated, the rooms are small but they’re doable with two people in each room. Loved the balconies off of each room; we were on the 5th floor (rooms 502 & 503) and could see the top of the Eiffel Tower from both rooms. The 8th is a great arrondissement because it is the arr. where a lot of attractions are, e.g. Place de la Concorde, Rue Saint Honore (shopping!), Le Village (shopping & a great restaurant), Place Vendome (near the famous Ritz Paris), Hotel Costes (Costes is great for dinner for adults), the George V hotel, Printemps (more shopping), etc. ||The Madeleine Cafe is right next door to the hotel and is a terrific cafe; easy to have the hotel call them for room service as well, you can get items to go/take back to your room, breakfast, lunch, dinner and crepes! Nice wine and beer store near hotel as well. Plenty of cafes in the area in addition to Cafe Madeleine, eg Paris London Cafe. We enjoyed the daily breakfast at Hotel Madeleine almost every morning.||We also utilized the laundry service which was easy and...
Read moreIf you travel with children you can forget about this hotel. We have 3 kids, 7, 7 and 12. We have booked the biggest appartment available in the hotel, 2 floors, 4 beds, plenty of space. BUT the room can accomodate only 4 persons, theoretically. From the moment we entered the lobby the stuff was super impolite, even rude. You can not check in if there are 5 of you. Explanations: fire safety regulations or difficult to clean a room after 5 people and not 4. Solution provided: another room, different floor. Doesn’t matter if you don’t use the room and sleep all 5 of you in the appartment, as long as we are covered from papers point of view. We forget about fire safety regulations. It’s OK. Or maybe it was an extra 250 euro on top of 450 already paied? More like it. Another example of french...
Read moreThe one thing this hotel has going for it is its location, which is very central with good transport connections and within walking distance of most important places in "tourist" Paris. In other respects it disappointed. The rooms were comfortable and clean, but very small (like most hotel rooms in Paris). There is no public space to speak of (there is a very small area on the ground floor but that doubles up as breakfast space in the mornings). The breakfast itself was adequate. Little touches, like complementary bottled water in the room every day, were lacking, not what one would expect from a 4 star hotel. It goes without saying that there is an abundance of similar hotels in Paris, and they need to try a bit harder here if they want to capture...
