Hôtel Bedford Paris — Hotel in Paris

I’d love to give this more stars but it’s just not possible after the horrible service we had with the concierge. I’d say 4….really!

Rooms are clean, well ventilated, and the a/c was good. Breakfast was lovely (except cold eggs- I didn’t eat them) and the breakfast staff was nice and had a friendly sense of humor.

Once we checked out, it went WAY down hill! We are traveling with my 80 year old mother who can keep up but still needs some assistance with walking and typically we take a taxi to accommodate for longer distances. However, this ended up taking almost 45 min. The concierge was certainly not well trained in customer service. He was the rudest I have ever met. After sitting for 20 min, I asked about our taxi, concierge told me “I’m very busy I called your room number 2 times nobody answered”. During that time, Several guests had been escorted outside to their transpiration. Our spot was in clear sight of the desk and front door and very visible. Unfortunately I do not speak French, but I know enough though he DID NOT make any attempt to find us. Without getting upset, I kindly gestured to our seats, in clear sight of the door and his desk, where we had been for the last 20 min. The gentleman at the front desk (check out) chimes in and repeated what was said by the concierge (“called you twice with no answer”. ). Again, I did not get upset just trying to understand why we were being made to feel we had done something wrong. Another taxi was ordered….and we were passed over by two additional taxis and finally tried to get our own. This caused a huge scene where we were in the cab that we caught…made To get out to the other cab (called by the hotel) only to have that taxi driver insist we get out because by now, we were visible agitated (no yelling, but it was obvious) we we’re not in a good place!

We later came back to pick up our bags (fearful they may have been tampered with) that did stay safe at the hotel. Where we were met with the concierge again! No words exchanged. Our taxi was waiting so we didn’t need to go though this whole thing again. Thank goodness!

In the end, I’d say the front desk service needs immediate attention. A concierge should be able to Work under pressure Without being completely rude. It’s not even that they called and we missed our taxi, it was purely his response to the idea that he was stressed and we should have been more attentive to him! A simple apology and attention would have cleared up the whole situation.
