Tourist Trap Scam!

My husband and I were actually trying to go home via the Metro however there was something going on and the train was stalled. It was late and we were hungry so we decided to go up to the street to get some food. This was the first cafe you see right outside of the Madeleine metro station so we went to go check out the menu. We really wanted steak frites and didn't see it on the menu however one of the waiters outside basically lured us in saying "oh yes we have steak frites," so we stupidly followed him inside (again we were tired and hungry).

First of all...he didn't even check out health pass (vaccination card) which you are required to do in cafes and when we took them out to show him after a while he cared less and just laughed. So clearly this restaurant doesnt care about safety.

Secondly, we ordered the off menu steak frites and what we got was the worst piece of steak we have both eaten. Mine tasted almost rotten and it was the worst cut of meat ever. Served with bland fries that tasted like nothing.

Then they had the gall to charge us $50 for the steak frites....i guess they could since it wasn't on the menu. so they can charge whatever they'd like! SCAM!

Oh ya and then they asked for a tip at the end. Like flat out asked for a tip...nope.

It was our fault for falling for it however. It just seems like they lure stupid tourists off the street like us and serve horrible quality food that they charge a lot for, and again they don't care about your safety either. Someone report them or something!

Will never step foot near this...

Worst experience ever had in Life: 1- I ordered a Heineken in bottle and the waiter told me It was finished, as all the bottled lower price apparently, so he suddenly propose with the highest price, saying he was similar and very good, I then said I was fine with tap water, five minutes later he showed up with the very last Heineken, go figure. 2- I order tapas as entree, they never arrived, as he brought directly the entrecóte, of course I said I didn't want the tapas anymore. 3- Entrecóte RAW, it was seriously frozen, there is a very slight difference betwen raw and something just "took out of the fridge", also, if you have a minimum of brain, you may want to think to hit up the plate, because the meat is raw, just to keep it warm, well, It was seriously cold. I ended up wasting more then half piece of meat, eating some fries and bread. Of course don't even talk about taking AMEX, and the floor was seriously dirty. My bad, but around here it's only Michelin restaurant and I was in a rush for dinner. My advice, do not come here, at least not to have a...

Great food, but SHOCKED by the waiter’s behavior ! We had a great lunch with excellent food, until we asked for the bill. The waiter came with the bill (~48 EUR) and asked how I was planning to pay. I gave my credit card, inserted it in the machine but, before I could do anything, he added 4 EUR to the bill at the same time as he was saying that “service is not included in the bill”. I thought he was “heavily” suggesting to add a tip from the card payment, but HE DID IT HIMSELF IN A VERY DIRTY WAY. Unfortunately, I realized the trick only after leaving the place, it was too late to go back and claim, and he could say I had agreed with the tip. Not without saying, the bill clearly indicates that 11% service is already included in the bill. So, if you go there, BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL about your bills, especially if you pay by credit card, and make sure the waiter does not modify the bill amount without you noticing it. Such immoral behavior is exactly what destroys the reputation of Paris as a tourist destination ! I feel it even more cruelly as I am...

Very friendly staff but when it comes to food, only thing I can say was good is the onion soup. For mains we had a chicken wok which was sweet like a chocolate cake, and veggie burger which was soaked in oil. French fries was over cooked so you could brake your teeth on it. Very disappointing considering it was over 40€ per person for a 2 course dinner and a coke. Even though we left 3/4 of the burger, waiter didn’t bother to ask if the meal was ok or not. They probably know what kind of food they serve so they avoid asking. In general, visit only for drinks or maybe the onion soup and avoid the rest👎👎👎
