This was our first stay at this hotel and our second stay at an Indigo (stayed in Düsseldorf, Germany, last month for a prepaid rate about 1/3 of the price here, not including breakfast, in a similarly sized room but with a large balcony). About a week before my arrival, I received a very nice email from Marius and then a follow up from Virginie with answers to most of my questions. That is top notch customer service. I mentioned that we should arrive just before noon which we did at about 11h30. They gave us two choices for rooms: one on a lower floor with a king sized bed and one on a higher floor with 2 (they called twin) beds. We chose the latter and were in Room #512 in 5 minutes (I forgot the room number when I sat down to write this review and sent an email to which Anne responded in less than 5 minutes-more top notch customer service). Room #512 was at the far end of the hotel and as far away from the noisy Rue de la Madeleine as possible. The beds were not twins…but doubles or queens. (I will attach a photo once this review is posted) The room was a good size. Upon entry, there was a toilet room off to the left and then another room with sink and a huge walk-in, rain shower. The only issue here is that you have to wash your hands after using the toilet so there should be a little sink in there…otherwise what to do if the other room is occupied? There was a chair and a table plus a mini-bar area. Note that there were only non-alcoholic drinks in the fridge, but all were included at no charge. The beds were very comfortable with duvets, firm pillows, and just the right firmness. We each needed an outlet, and there was one available on the side by the window, but the one on the other side had the telephone plugged in. They provided an extension cord, but it turned out that the phone had a long enough cord to reach the outlet a few meters/yards away on the wall. Wifi worked great although I had a hard time trying to watch a basketball game. They offer free wifi to all IHG Club members but should give better bandwidth, especially to Platinum members! Upon check-in, I received a handwritten welcome note from the General Manager, Vincent Poulingue. This was another sign of class and professionalism! Originally, I had booked my annual free IHG Chase MC night but decided to rebook and pay in advance and include breakfast. One glitch in the IHG system is that you can’t prebook the 2 for 1 breakfast when using the Senior or Free Night rate! To be honest, I think we received a larger room but not sure. I think it was an “Executive Club Level” room with 34 sqm, but I did not measure. The temperature in the room was adjustable and made the stay very comfortable in that respect. We could also crack the windows for air. My major complaint was the breakfast. The regular price for the buffet breakfast, if not paid in advance, is overpriced. It was a buffet with scrambled eggs, bacon, breads, breakfast drinks, cheeses, etc, but did not include “eggs made to order”. Unless you are real hungry and/or have paid in advance, I wouldn’t do breakfast at this high price. For this price, they should make eggs to order and even omelets! The breakfast area was crowded and items were sometimes not replenished unless brought to the staff’s attention (i.e. scrambled eggs). The scrambled eggs weren’t too bad and didn’t require ketchup like some others I’ve had in the US! They may have been boiled eggs, but I don’t remember, but that doesn’t change my complaint. I also thought the overall room price was a little bit high. In conclusion, I was impressed by the Hotel Indigo Paris and would stay there again if the rate is good and/or the Le Grand is full. The location is fantastic, the staff is very professional and take good care of the guests, the room was very clean with a very comfortable bed and shower, it’s quiet and safe and very cozy due to its only 50 something rooms, and great for everything but my 2 main issues- the price and breakfast. Having stayed at the Intercontinental Marceau, I find these two to be very similar; the Marceau should change to an Indigo since it’s more in that genre! Unless I can get a very good room rate elsewhere, I would stay here. It depends upon your IHG status and personal needs, but for a Platinum Ambassador or higher, this is not as good of a choice, but it’s still one of the best properties in Paris! Give it a shot if you don’t need the club lounge and prefer a more intimate, personal experience! For better, non-censored reviews, check other web sites since IHG limits what...
Read moreI am in Paris 5/6 times a year. It was the last night of what was 'Les Vacances' after some work the week before. I am known well at 'Le Grand' and 'Avenue Marceau' ( all three IHG) but I saw all these amazing reviews for the boutique IHG hotel, The Paris Indigo. Normally I would have called the Grand and said 'Elias is coming can I please my chambre de Preference' but....we decided to try this boutique hotel as we had stayed in 'The Indigo Glasgow' (the only luxury hotel in town) and was truly happily surprised. Still...at such a reasonable price in Paris....I was still a bit dubious. Alors...I had nothing to be wary of at all. First. The hotel is on one of my favorite passages in the 2eme arrondisement. La Passe Edouard VII. This charming hotel was in the passage which I already found as a plus. It had a beautiful outside facade and I saw from the outside that all was as should be. In short. This is a gem of an hotel and the rate certainly does not match the exemplary service and surroundings of which one is treated. A lovely little lobby with a trendy bar and tables for taking a drink or maybe ordering lunch from their restaurant menu. BTW...the breakfast surpassed many 5* hotels in France with local organic breads and jams as well as your choice of a delectable omelette or other breakfast dishes that were mouth watering. Add to that fresh OJ, the best yogurt ever(again...made in the neighborhood...try the banana) and pastries, meats, cheeses and breakfast breads, cakes and patisseries... that I was truly overwhelmed. The space was also calm and sunny and just....really nice. The room. I was upgraded to a superior because of my IHG status. A platter was waiting for me with chocolate strawberries, Brittany cookies and badoit. Also...everything in the mini-bar was part of the price of the room! The room was spacious and so cozy. We loved that the giant television could be swung around to face the sitting area or your bed! The room was as clean as can be and the modern decor with a warm feel (and those stunning hardwood floors) made the room an oasis of calm. Bathroom completely modern with amenities that again really impressed me. With all this going for the hotel...what put it over the top was the wonderful, friendly staff! I have to name the outstanding team that makes the hotel so so special, Avrelien (hope I spelled that correct), Nelson (who could speak fluent everything so my husband and Nelson engaged in a game of language wits...Nelson won.) such a great first impression of the hotel. Tessa, Jushn and Amara just rounded off the wonderful service and everyone really seemed to want to make sure you were happy and had all that you needed! Wow. I know some top 5* hotels in Paris that could take a lesson from this hotel and its staff. Suffice to say we were truly taken with this hotel and would happily stay again. Without doubt, one of the best hotels in Paris at this ridiculous low price! I hope the word doesn't get out! Je vous remercie pour un petit sejour excellent....
Read moreMaybe because we're American?? Not happy. When we arrived, we were informed that the room we booked was not available because they had given it to someone else. They said the room was an upgrade, but it had two levels with the steepest stairs I've ever seen. So you had to keep luggage downstairs and rooms and shower upstairs. It also looked like it was designed to keep families apart, with everyone being secluded from each other. My wife's knees are not the best, so this was not an option. We ended up talking to the manager, the sales manager, and the front desk woman. The front desk woman was blunt, direct, and did not really care at all. They told us the only thing they had was a much smaller room at a discount or we could leave because that's all they had. ||The room:|The rainfall shower shoots everywhere but straight down. Made it difficult for my son not to get shot in the eyes while taking a shower. The sink drains extremely slowly, so we have to limit how much we use the sink at one time. There is air conditioning, but you can't feel it one way or another. We just don't have the energy to talk to them about more room issues. ||Breakfast: The food itself is very good with a good amount of options. The problem is the staff is way too involved in your family eating your breakfast. There are two people who seem to run it. An older gentleman and a young girl. The breakfast is too dependent on them helping you. If you need coffee, they have to get it for you. If you need strawberry jam, they have to get it for you. If you need ice to have cold water, they have to get it for you. If you need an omlette, scrambled eggs, pancakes, hot chocolate, or anything else, they have to get it for you. Every time we asked for something, they would pause for a second and then say okay, as though they were doing a us a favor. It was not because they didn't speak english well. The pancakes are very small, like crepes. When I asked for 6, the man looked at me like I was crazy. They understood us just fine. Maybe because we are American?? I started feeling bad when we needed something. If this is the style they want, then maybe they need to just hire servers/waiters because there are a lot of tables. The young girl spent 90% of her time with one family. She exchanged phone numbers, took pictures with them, and even had time to hug them goodbye. She only talked to us when she had to, and we had to constantly ask for things twice. The breakfast team just didn't seem to want us there. The chef was great, though. He came out one time and helped us because he saw I needed help. ||Exploring the city: We have wasted most of an entire day dealing with the hotel, so we have not gotten a chance to explore the city yet. I think this is a good location from what we can tell, but we will see. I hope the hotel can be helpful in us seeing the city and not wasting any more time. Yes, we are still guests in the hotel as I write this. I will change the review if our experience...
