Firstly, the location of this hotel is fairly ideal, a short walk from both the train station and city centre but without good views. The hotel staff are polite and friendly and really do try their best. The bed is standard Ibis and I did sleep well. But the quality of the hotel itself is simply poor, the rooms are tiny, the bathrooms comically minute for anywhere other than a Japanese city. The decor and fittings are dated and in need of replacing, or at least repainting. The linoleum floor of the room was uneven and creaky in places, the shower curtain only just too short for the shower. The hairdryer in the bathroom is so outdated and minimal an effort that they may as well have not bothered, the electrical outlet beneath it is a fantastic addition to a room whose sole purpose is the use of water and whilst the porthole window in the bathroom is cute, the state of the frame looks like if it was taken from the Titanic. Beyond this, there is rust on the lights and bathroom door frame as well as a wonderful culture of black mould between the shower tiles and ceiling. Overall, this hotel is not worth the price, and I feel sorry for the staff that work here. It is not up to Accor Group standard and you would be better off at one of the other Ibis in the city, however well placed...

Unfortunately, the housekeeping leaves a lot to be desired. It was clear that my room had not been dusted in a while. Not only were there clumps of dust & fluff in hidden areas, like under the sink, there was also dust and hair on the nightstand, table, and shelves, in addition to spiderwebs around the window frame. The full-length mirror was smeared, and the shower stall had limescale and old soap stains. The bathroom door was also smeared.
What use is housekeeping if a guest has to do a bit of cleaning in order to make the room usable? It is a budget hotel, after all, and I was not expecting luxury. However, it's reasonable to expect that I can set down my book on the nightstand and not have it covered in dust when I pick it up next. I was there for 2 nights, and despite having the room tidied on day 2, the dust was still there. A good scrub with limescale remover/white vinegar would make such a big difference to the shower. It also requires some renovation as the rubber seals on the door are worn out and the caulking along the bottom has what looks like old...
Read moreWhile not so big or spaceous place, Strasbourg is still a capitol city of cultural and historical Alsace region in France, with around 300.000 people population. Besides that, it is one of the four, so called, capitals of the EU (besides Brussels, Luxembourgh and Frankfurt), with many EU institutions, like 2nd EU Parliament, Council of Europe, EU Court of Human Rights, EU Ombudsman, Eurocorps, EU Directorate for the quality of Medicines, etc. Strasbourg is also a city where many important international organisation (also those of first class) has a main seat, and it is in that way among the most important cities in the world (only a few cities in the world has such status, like New York and Geneva), while for France, Strasbourg is very important international bussines, congress and symposia town, high on second place, right after Paris. With UNESCO world heritage historic city center (Grand Island), beautiful Notre-Dame Gothic Cathedral, Petit France district, rich museums options, and typical Alsace food and drinks offering, the city of Strasbourg is a great place for visit - and within its great bussines, cultural and commercial world famous role, you will for sure find something that...
