Dear MAMCS team: Honestly, I cannot believe what happened during my visit at your museum last weekend. I especially came to Strasbourg from Switzerland in order to see the temporary exhibition SURRÉALICE. So, I arrived with my travel bags and my winter coat, as all other visitors, and entered the museum and queued up. After leaving our thermos bottle at the entrance like in the airport, we had to face that this museum had neither a cloakroom nor any lockers. We had to carry around all our bags in the crowded exhibition space. Funny detail: we had to carry the bags in front of us, which was even more fun due to the fact that I had 3 bags... May I ask the museum team: What kind of security plan does this museum have? and what kind of visitor service does this museum have? Is that really the way how you welcome visitors in 2023? Asking the lady at the entrance of the exhibition if there was really no possibility to leave somewhere the coats/bags, and if I was really obliged to walk through a crowded exhibition with 3 bags the lady just answered "that she was not doing the rules". Poor dear... apparently her course of instruction did not last very long. Customer service at MAMCS: 0 points, and I was not the only one complaining. This was really not a good experience. Sorry...

Read moreRemarkable museum: On the one hand, it houses several world-class and renowned paintings, including works by Picasso, Penck, Kupka, and Kandinsky. At the same time, the permanent exhibition on the first floor was closed (apparently due to a staff shortage). This gave the museum visit a somewhat amateurish feel, which is honestly undeserved considering the quality of the artworks that were on display, the thoughtful internal layout, and the fascinating temporary exhibition on social behavior. I must admit that my free student entry — and that of my companion (a European under 30, who paid €3.50) — could easily be priced higher if it meant the museum could better showcase its full potential. A visit of 45 minutes to 1.5 hours is currently enough to explore everything with care.
