A very bad hostess of the hostel. She asks a lot of questions and is curious. Her behavior is just like an old grandmother. She asks a lot of personal questions that don't concern her at all. She sits without a husband and without a man and starts asking me who you're with here. I'm old enough myself and I know where to go and who to go with. If I want to go to the club and if I want to come back at night, it doesn't concern anyone and it's my business. She herself is like the hostess of the hostel there, even she sits in her receptionist and, like a greedy one, cannot find workers for herself. The hostel owner is crazy in the head. And there are many disadvantages about the hostel. Towels are usually small and sold separately for GEL 5 and are not included in the payment amount. A man comes into the women's rooms and cleans it, and it's not right and it's just ridiculous. Apparently, the hostess of the hostel cannot find a cleaning woman in the women's territory. Well, all this is clear already from her if she sits in the reception as an administrator and probably does not want to pay extra money for additional workers. There are cats everywhere in this hostel, not even one cat, but 3-4. I was only there one night and it stinks of cats everywhere. The hostess behaves as if she is so kind , but on the second day she started asking me unnecessary questions. She seems to be sick in the head. Let him go heal his head. I just didn't want to answer her rudely and decided to write her reviews. It seems to her that she needs a man herself and cannot look at those who come with a guy or someone sits with guys in her room. Yes, it's true there is a hostel, but as soon as she sees a guy and a girl talking, she immediately comes up and gives unnecessary questions. He says he's your boyfriend or friend. It does not concern her at all and has no right to do so. Let him find a...
Read moreElia is a hidden gem. A home away from home. And a place where I've enjoyed staying for over a month now, and plan to for the rest of the summer. It is peaceful here, clean, and the staff are great: friendly, dependable, and accommodating. I've made a lot of good friends here, too, and the cats have made a good friend out of me.
Elia is not a party hostel, though we're not strangers to a good toast. The feeling here is more intimate. The guests are considerate of each other and to some extent we all take care of the place. And as you can see from the photos it is beautifully decorated and maintained. The kitchen isn't bad either!
The hostel is right next to Sameba Cathedral. I love being able to pass through this magnificent church in the mornings and evenings on my way into the city and on my way home. It is also close to a delicious, homey and affordable restaurant (where I'm happy to eat several meals in a row) and a grocery which sells all the necessary basic foodstuffs.
It is a nice walk to the metro station and beyond. There are also marshrutky (mini buses) that can take you all around the city. And rides through Bolt/Yandex are very cheap. So it's easy to get around, although it takes a little know-how and experience to figure it out. I am happy to be staying where the neighborhood is more "local," in the cooler, peaceful hills above and away from the noisy, touristic city center.
Thank you, Elia, for taking care of me in Tbilisi! I look forward to returning when I come back to this...
Read moreI stayed at Elia Boutique and Apart Hotel for 6 days. It was my first time in Georgia and my very first time staying in a hostel and I was pleasantly surprised at how homely the hostel was. I've heard horror stories about hostels from friends such as the place in person not matching the photos online or the hostel workers being awful. I experienced none of this at Elia Boutique Hostel and thoroughly enjoyed my time here.
The bedrooms, common rooms, kitchen, bathrooms and downstairs/lobby area were all kept clean. I often would see the owner, Eliana, cleaning throughout the day. I will mention that there was an odd smell in the green room bathroom however this would've likely been due to old plumbing and/or being shared between 8 people.
Eliana was a wonderful person to chat to when I was at the hostel and she had incredible recommendations for things to do and places to eat (definitely go to Home Kitchen down the road if you stay here!). I wish I took on more of her recommendations during my time in Tbilisi.
The hostel is close to the Holy Trinity Cathedral and is about a 20/30 minute walk from most attractions. While it might seem far to some, I found this great as it meant the hostel was relatively quiet and I could truly unwind. While not a party hostel, there were still plenty of opportunities to chat and get to know other travellers.
If I'm ever back Tbilisi I know I will stay here again and I won't hesitate to recommend this hostel to...
