Terrible Experience – Discriminatory Behavior & Disrespectful Service

We visited this restaurant on August 4th around 9 PM — four of us, including my two young children, absolutely starving and hoping for a nice evening on the terrace. Unfortunately, what we faced instead was deeply disappointing and, quite frankly, discriminatory.

From the moment we arrived, no one even greeted us no one guided us . We met Nini ( name told me ) Without us asking anything, her very first sentence was: “Here, the service charge is 20%, not 15%.” We were taken aback. Who asked about service charges? Why mention that upfront, unless you’re trying to imply something about us?

The service that followed was shockingly poor: • 20 minutes before anyone came to take our order • Another 30 minutes for food to arrive • We received only one dish (Shkmeruli) — and no one came back to check for another 20 minutes • Items like bread, salad, and eggplant with walnut paste — which we ordered — never came until we repeatedly asked • When we finally asked about the missing bread, Nini responded with an arrogant, mocking tone: “Did you order bread? One or two? It’ll come when it comes.”

By this time, the kids were starving, and we had to eat the Shkmeruli cold. The bread came much later, and the salad never arrived at all. Ironically, the main course was served first, and the appetizers never really made it.

When I pointed out that they were charging 20% service fee but offering not even 2% service, she smirked, shrugged her shoulders, and said: “Whatever you say, I don’t care.” Then mockingly smiled again and added: “I can’t waive the service fee.” Nobody had even asked her to waive it! Her entire attitude reeked of mockery, prejudice, and arrogance.

I told her that this kind of behavior is unacceptable, and I was ready to pay double the service fee if only we were treated with dignity. But her final response summed it all up: “Do whatever you want to.”

⸻

This wasn’t just bad service — it felt personal. We couldn’t help but sense discrimination in the way we were treated. Other tables around us seemed to be served with warmth and care. We were not just disappointed — we were hurt, especially with two kids sitting at the table.

We travel a lot and respect cultures, but this kind of behavior based on prejudice or assumptions has no place in hospitality — or anywhere.

Avoid this place if you value respect, kindness, and fairness. And if you’re a tourist — especially one who looks “different” — don’t expect to be...

The restaurant is situated by a river which is used as city sight. The fish grown by the owners are organic, so they taste fresher and sweeter than those served in other restaurants. The indoor dining section, is decorated with aquarium and replicas and fishermen lanterns from the ceiling, while the scene deck inside is a place to perform and live music during dining time in a space with a stunning view of the Georgian culture.

Types of the food The menu at a Georgian restaurant is starting with khinkali and khachapuri and impressive, with a wide variety of seafood dishes to choose from. There are more than 100 types of food and seafood dishes. Patrons can choose to cook their favourite seafood in Georgia, Georgian or Western styles. I strongly recommend their delicious mixed kebab as you can taste all kinds at one go.

The staff Apart from that, their staff are very friendly and helpful. From the moment we walked in, they greeted us with a smile and seated us at a cozy table by the window. The staff at this restaurant were all very knowledgeable and can easily recommend their signature or special dishes to you. They are trying their best to make sure we were enjoying in the restaurant. Overall, their service was top-notch and really made our dining experience enjoyable.

Review Coclusion All-in-all, I would rate The khinkali house Restaurant 4.5 out of 5 stars. Its dining atmosphere, food and service quality are excellent. The prices for good food are slightly above average but other than that, it is quite reasonable. I would definitely recommend it to all...

I recently dined at a restaurant, and unfortunately, it was an experience I would rather forget. From the moment I arrived, things started to go downhill. The solyanka, a dish I was looking forward to, was a letdown. It lacked the flavors and quality that I had come to expect.

To make matters worse, the ambiance was far from enjoyable. At one point, the volume of the music suddenly skyrocketed, disrupting any chance of having a pleasant conversation. It felt like I was at a loud club rather than a restaurant trying to enjoy a meal.

But the biggest disappointment came when the bill arrived. To my surprise, there was an additional 15% charge tacked on. When I questioned the waiter about it, I was met with a dismissive response, stating that it was the restaurant's policy. This lack of transparency left a sour taste in my mouth.

Overall, my experience at this restaurant was far from satisfactory. The unappetizing food, unpleasant atmosphere, and unexpected additional charges made it clear that this is not a place I will be returning to. I highly recommend others to think twice before considering dining at this establishment.

I hope that my feedback can help the restaurant management address these issues and improve their services for...

Located near the Holy Trinity Cathedral, nestled in the charming old streets of Tbilisi, Khnkali Restaurant is a culinary gem waiting to be discovered. We recently visited for lunch and were absolutely delighted with our experience. The food was simply delicious! We indulged in the traditional Georgian dishes of khinkali and kachapuri, both of which were prepared to perfection. The flavors were rich and authentic, a true taste of Georgian cuisine. What impressed us even more was the reasonable pricing. Despite the exceptional quality of the food, the prices were incredibly fair, offering great value for money. The ambiance of the restaurant added to the overall dining experience. Set in the old street, the atmosphere was cozy and inviting, providing the perfect backdrop for a delightful meal. Overall, Khnkali Restaurant exceeded our expectations in every way. If you're in Tbilisi and craving authentic Georgian cuisine at a reasonable price, this is the place to be! Highly recommended.

Khinkali House is a bit of a mixed bag. On one hand, the service is prompt and the staff are genuinely friendly—plus, it's a cheap option for a quick snack. The place is clean and it's one of the few spots in the neighborhood where you can pay with a card. However, when it comes to the food, it falls short of delivering an authentic Georgian experience. The khinkalis were underwhelming, notably missing that kick of cilantro. The tomato and cucumber salad came with awkward walnut chunks, making it far from the walnut "sauce" one would expect. And, oh boy, the eggplant garlic rolls were a garlic bomb—overwhelming to the point of distraction. The wine list didn't save the day either; it's pretty mediocre with options that are overly sweet. All in all, if you're in a rush and need a quick, inexpensive bite, this place will do. But if you're after authentic Georgian flavors, you might want to look elsewhere.
