We recently stayed at Fos Downtown Suites with my husband during our visit to Athens and had a mixed experience.
Pros:
Location (5/5): The hotel is perfectly situated at the center of Athens, making it convenient to explore the city's attractions and enjoy its vibrant atmosphere.
Friendly Staff (5/5): The morning staff, particularly a kind young lady, provided excellent service. Their friendliness added a positive touch to our stay.
Spacious Room on the 5th Floor (4/5): After a noisy night in a 3rd-floor room, we switched to a 5th-floor room, which was more spacious, quieter, and ideal for a longer stay.
Cons:
Noise Issues (2/5): Unfortunately, our initial room on the 3rd floor faced the street and suffered from excessive noise from the bars below. Even with earplugs, sleep was elusive.
Room Cleanliness (3/5): While the 5th-floor room was an improvement, cleanliness in the initial room left something to be desired.
Fos Downtown Suites has its merits, primarily driven by its fantastic location and accommodating staff. However, the noise issues and room quality on lower floors impacted our overall satisfaction and general experience. In my opinion, the hotel feels more like a 3-star than a 4-star establishment.
Tips for Future Guests:
-If noise is a concern, request a room on higher floors to mitigate street sounds. -Consider the hotel's suitability based on your personal preferences and the nature of your stay in Athens.
In conclusion, Fos Downtown Suites offers a decent stay with notable strengths and some areas for improvement. While I may not choose it for a future visit, others might find it suitable depending on their preferences and...
Read moreStaff were friendly, location is near the Metro station from the airport, but it was extremely loud at night. Sure, there were earplugs, but they were not nearly enough. There was loud music outside all night long. Not completely the hotel's fault, but not very good soundproofing and shocked at the great reviews on TripAdvisor and elsewhere.||||I also communicated with them to confirm that I could leave my luggage with them as I had a flight that was in the evening, well after check-out. When I arrived, they indicated that I would just be leaving the bags in the basement, accessible to other guests/their visitors, and that no staff would even be at the front desk after 5pm, adding that they took no responsibility if something was missing. Obviously, I decided to take my bags to a luggage storage facility nearby and paid $20 euros to hold them.||||Last, contrary to the Greece website and all other resources, our Canadian vaccine certificate (and another guest's Malaysian certificate) were not accepted. While this was not the fault of the hotel, it is worth pointing out. They then told me they likely wouldn't be accepted at restaurants or the Acropolis (neither of which were true, though only cause they weren't checked at...
Read moreI exchanged email about my check in and said I will arrive 8:30-9pm. They agreed, but when I arrived at the hotel, the door was locked and nobody was there. I pressed bell several times. At that monent, I was panicked! Hotel is located in the central, but it is on the side road and stores were closed and I was a solo traveler in the new city. I felt very scared !Then I checked my email again and the new email instructed that I have to call someone to check in and use some kind of app. What kind of hotel is this? I don’t have cell phone in Athens and don’t know the app. Finally thanks to the very very kind store owner hearby, he called to the number a couple of times, I could check in! They should have provided instruction about self check in via email as we communicated before. The room is ok as described, but I am very mad about this hotel. This hotel made me very scared and very unhappy while staying two nights. If you are familiar about Athens, I think staying this hotel is ok, but visiting from other countries and Athens is new, definately avoid this hotel. There are so many nicer hotels around and at least you can check in smooth...
