We were excited to stay at the Fos Residential Apartments, in the Presidential apartment, for our 8 nights in Athens. We were sent instructions on how to access the apartment since we were arriving outside of the front desk hours. We really did need a bit more information on the apartment because each apartment has their own hot water tank that must be turned on at the circuit breaker box when needed. We had difficulty finding said box as it was at the top of the stairway where you would be looking down to keep from falling instead of up beside a closet. There is a large bank of unmarked switches that control some of the lights, rolling shades and shutters. Maybe some labels would be helpful for guests. This apartment does not have a microwave, dishwasher, ironing board or laundry facilities. There is a coin laundry just a couple of blocks away towards Hadrian’s library on a side street. There are 2 grocery stores just a few blocks away. This apartment was missing kitchen items when we arrived and the front desk brought up wine and other glasses that were missing. We also noticed that there were no kitchen knives but we travel with one and a spatula would have been nice to have as this was advertised as a complete kitchen. The coffee maker leaked when left with water in it so we just emptied it when not in use. The safe needs to be large enough to hold a laptop computer. This one was large enough for passports and didn’t seem secure enough for even that. There are actually two full bathrooms with showers although the guest one off of the kitchen is a bit small and the shower support was broken. The mirror door in the main bath had been broken and not repaired. One of the rolling shutters in the living room area was not operational. There is a large marble dining table on the terrace but one of the chairs was broken and had been pieced back together so the cushion fell through when sat upon. Some of the cushions for the other benches had been damaged and we found them in an outside equipment closet. There needs to be a bit of maintenance done to be able to call this the “Presidential Apartment”. These are minor items that need to be checked and completed between...
Read moreWe stayed at Fos for 4 nights - 2 adults and 2 kids ages 4 and 9. We LOVED our stay. The location was amazing - a quick walk to all the action, but quiet and peaceful at night. The only thing about the location is the lack of a place to park/pull over for a car/taxi - so ensure that you have all your stuff ready to go for a quick entry/exit. But if you are staying in the Plaka that's likely true for all.
The rooms were clean, modern and very comfortable. The two kids slept in the main room on sofa beds that were very comfy and they loved having their own TV with a ton of channels/netflix as most of our hotels only had a couple greek channels. I know you dont go to Greece to watch TV, but its hot in August, so some downtime in the apartment in the afternoon heat was much needed. There was a nice kitchen, well stocked with plates/glasses etc and a coffee machine with fresh pods every day. I found a grocery store a few blocks away so we were able to stock the kitchen for breakfasts and snacks.
The staff were all lovely and helpful. They arranged a great taxi for us to the port as well to the airport.
Best part - we had a beautiful view of the Acropolis...
Read moreI stayed at the FOS Residential Apartments twice. The location was excellent, right in the heart of the Plaka area. Lots of shops and restaurants in the area. The apartment was super clean and really nice. Bed was good, washroom with a shower (a little tight but manageable) and a second bathroom in the main area of the apartment. Large sitting area, dining table and all the appliances that you could require during a stay (except for a washer/dryer). There was a small view of the Parthenon but it was a very small view and there was no point in paying extra for it. WiFi was good and there were a couple of TV's with a few channels available in English. I would like to commend Cristina at the front desk, as she was OUTSTANDING. Super helpful with her recommendations and arranging some things. The big BUT is the street noise. There is double pane glass but unfortunately, it is not very effective at all as we heard everything from the street (people talking, cars going by) and it was difficult to get to sleep at night. Otherwise, the FOS Residential...
