This was hands down the best restaurant we ate at during our trip to Athens. Every detail, from the service to the food, was absolutely flawless.
The staff went above and beyond — the bartender took the time to ask about our preferences and gave us excellent drink recommendations that perfectly matched our tastes. The rest of the team was just as attentive, especially when it came to wine pairings. Their knowledge of local Greek wines and how they complemented each dish made the experience feel truly elevated.
As for the food — fresh doesn’t even begin to describe it. Most of the ingredients were farm-to-table and grown right here in Greece, which you could taste in every bite. The seafood was purchased that very day, and it showed in the quality and flavor.
Highly recommend starting with the eggplant rolls stuffed with feta and ground beef — rich, savory, and perfectly seasoned. The burrata salad was fresh and bursting with flavor, lightly dressed with high-quality Greek olive oil.
For mains, the calamari stuffed with cheese was melt-in-your-mouth tender and packed with flavor. The seafood linguine, served in a delicate cream sauce, was also a standout — balanced, luxurious, and comforting without being too heavy.
From start to finish, this meal was perfect. Can’t wait to come back on our next visit to Athens. A true hidden gem that deserves...
Read moreSymposio Restaurant Bar in Athens is the kind of place that makes you wonder why you’d ever settle for average. Let’s talk food: the beef tartare? Easily the best in the city—perfectly balanced, fresh, and so good you might start side-eyeing your dining companion if they go for a second bite. The Greek salad gets a creative twist with πινελιές (aka fancy little touches) that elevate it way beyond your usual bowl of veggies.
The rolls with feta are decent—nothing life-changing, but they do their job as a solid starter. Then comes the risotto, which is so creamy and flavorful it feels like a warm hug in a bowl. But the real star of the show? The apple dessert—a masterpiece that’ll make you forget every mediocre apple pie you’ve ever had. Sweet, tangy, and perfectly executed, it’s the grand finale this meal deserves.
Add to that a chic atmosphere and attentive service, and you’ve got a spot that’s absolutely worth a visit. Symposio nails that balance of creative, high-quality dishes without feeling overly pretentious. Definitely a place to put on your Athens foodie...

I tried all of the popular names around Athens area during my 5-day stay and I heard not one word of Symposio.
Luckily, I came across this in my own research. I am a solo traveler and was looking for a place that was intimate enough for me to feel relaxed eating my meal alone haha.
Not only was it the perfect location for this, but the food really delivered beyond my expectations! It was hands down the best meal of my Athens trip.
Coming from Türkıye, I have lamb too much and this was better than any I’ve had. It’s fall off the bone juiciness with the sweet sauce addition was *chef’s kiss. And the celery that accompanied the lamb dish was very fragrant which I love.
Even the margaritas were exactly how I like it. Not too sweet, a bit tart and powerful.
To top off this wonderful experience, my beautiful server, Aristea was so nice and recommended the perfect dish with confidence. She knew the menu very well.
I will be returning each and every time I cross the sea...
