Kimon Hotel Athens — Hotel in Athens

The location is great for exploring Athens on foot and the room was clean. However, there was no soundproofing for indoors or outdoors, you could hear rooms on our floor's alarm clocks, TVs, conversations and all the bells from all the churches all through the night.||We had an ant infestation in our bathroom the entire time we were there, we told staff about it on a daily basis. They sprayed poison in the bathroom at one point and then didn't clean it up afterwards, leaving an ant graveyard and us having to wear shoes in the bathroom/shower. When I addressed this with reception on check out, I was told I should have cancelled my reservation if I wasn't happy. Email correspondence (with photos) following my visit, was met with similar stonewalling.||My friend arrived two days later than me and was given a key to the wrong room. She was trying to figure out why I had brought enough stuff for two people when the receptionist called her back out of the room again and gave her the right room...

We loved this hotel. The price was awesome for the location. Plaka is a great place to stay - close to all the sites, but quiet enough, with a real neighborhood feel.

Rooms: The main bed was comfortable, but the 2 twin beds in the family room we had could have used a mattress topper to be a little more comfortable. The AC was great. Bathrooms were adequate. Our room was also equipped with a safe.

We really appreciated the Handy phone to take around and explore Athens. It kept us from getting lost several times. Also, they were kind enough to store our luggage for us after checking out and our flight out of Athens. All of the receptionists were kind and had great recommendations.

The decor is to die for in this hotel. I love the concept of the art gallery/hotel. The color scheme was adorable. The patio was also very nice. If you cannot climb stairs, this would not be the hotel for you, as there is no elevator.

We booked this hotel and can't recommend it enough ! George followed up our booking and explained that they only opened at certain hours. We could leave our luggage when we disembarked from our cruise ! First impressions were great, a lady phoned George to tell us we had arrived and put our luggage in a safe area. No sooner had we done this than George arrived and said we could have our room straight away, took all our luggage upstairs then explained what a safe area it was, that the Hop on Hop off stop was within walking distance, told us how and where to get our tickets on the bus to the airport and explained that the great cafe across from the hotel catered for breakfasts and lunch. He was so helpful and obliging. Told us about the lovely huge verandah at the top of the building, with amazing views. Explained how to access the hotel and where to leave card when we left the next morning. A wonderful experience and in a great little...
