As the owner/manager reacted inappropriate to our justified complaint, we have to give a bad rating. Upon Arrival we learned that there was no balcony with our room (which was my major and promised booking criteria: "This double room has a balcony") but instead the room was opening to a shared patio with stairs leading up to a shared roof terrace (whis was in a sad state). The door to the patio has no window, thus it is quite dark in the room when the door is closed. The instant communication about this incorrect room description and the missing balcony was rather unpleasant: the answer was something like "there is not mentionned anywhere that the balcony is private. hopefully you can enjoy the view on the acropolis from the roof terrace". Obviously the shared roof terrace is the "balcony". We stayed in the room for about an hour and then decided to book another stay for our four nights in Athens (same prize, Athenian View Loft, perfect stay by all means). Owner or manager Maira refused to give us at least a part of our money back. Instead she cancelled our booking as "now-show", although we had checked in (and out). During our short stay, we took some pictures which show that there is room for improvement - regarding comfort as the too small mattress topper ot the blackish corners in the bathroom) and above all the business philosophy (selling something under false premises and refusing to refund). Obviously the room descriptions on bookingcom have been corrected after our complaint. Probaly the owner will answer to this post and spend a lot of energy in explaining why we as guests are wrong and stupid, as she did in earlier critical remarks. The whole things was an unpleasant and...
Read moreStayed here three nights. I normally don't post reviews, but I think this warrants one. While the location is super convenient, it is also very busy with noisy street traffic and loud music past midnight. The room was very clean. however, the mattress was hard as a rock causing my husband and me some hip and back pains. The manager did provide a topper which helped a bit. There was no room cleaning service for the duration of our stay, so garbage was brimming, the towels and sheets could have used a freshening and we needed more shampoo and body wash. The last night we were there, the bathroom floor flooded and leaked into the bedroom causing some of my clothing to get wet. Don't think this was the first time as there were old watermarks and black mold stains on the floor and wall. We urgently had to pack up and move all our stuff including the mattress topper to another room, including making the beds, which caused us to miss our dinner reservation, and just made our last night in Athens such an inconvenience. I asked for a one-night refund, but was denied and was told that the manager made attempts to rectify the problems. While that may be so---there were problems whichI did not anticipate having. As well, it is NOT explicit and clear at the time of booking that there is NO service, so heads up. I am sure others may have liked their stay here, but we certainly did not. In our two-week Greece trip, we stayed in a total of 5 hotels and this one was the...
Read moreOverall, our experience was pleasant, though we do have some important concerns we’d like to voice. On the plus side, the location is great (albeit poorly marked, so make sure you’re looking at the building numbers!), and the owner is responsive and kind. Our first and largest concern is that the keys work in all of the rooms— we know because we were a party of two staying in separate rooms (I also got an additional room partway through), and our keys worked in all three rooms we ended up using. Second, the WiFi is very, very slow and does not always work. For the price, we’d hoped for it to be a bit faster, but it was a helpful reminder to stay off our phones and enjoy Athens! Third, in some of the rooms, the shower curtain does not extend low enough, and showering ends up flooding the bathroom if you’re not really careful (my first room had a long enough curtain, though). Fourth, we were told Booking.com did not charge us the correct environmental tax, and ended up paying almost and additional €50. If this was the case, it would’ve been nice to know at the time we made the booking rather than the day we arrived. Fortunately, we did not have to pay the additional €6 for the third room we booked that we were originally told we owed, as the owner waived it. Again, location is great and the owner is very nice. I don’t regret our stay and we had a nice time, just thought those things were...
