The staff were exceptionally friendly, welcoming, and helpful. We were given raki and desserts on arrival which was a nice touch. The room was very clean and it was cleaned thoroughly daily, even mopping. The pool is nice with both shaded and sunny sections during the day, and there are some pool floats provided.
I feel bad that I cannot leave a glowing review. The negatives are all about the room, and nothing to do with the warm welcome that we received.
I booked the panoramic sea view room, and the photos of the room do not match the room in reality.
Firstly in the photos it looks like a normal bedroom with regular ceiling. However, all the bedrooms in this room type have slanted ceilings. You will have to be 150cm and 175cm tall in order not to hit your head on the ceiling. Even then, you will need to be careful not to walk into the ceiling light which is in the path to the bed. Also, coming up the staircase, you have the air con unit which is alongside the staircase that you have to be careful not to walk into.
The mattress was too soft, very bouncy and you can feel the springs. When one person moves, the whole mattress shakes. We ended up sleeping separately, one on the bed and one on the sofa.
The air con is not quite powerful enough - you have one medium sized air con unit for what is a 2.5 storey room. The bedroom is the hottest section in the whole room and it is hard to get the air con to cool it down.
The view was indeed incredible, but do note that to get the panoramic view, you have to look over your neighbours' balconies. There are three balconies joined together (inclusive of your own) this way. We were lucky that our neighbours did not really use their balconies as there is not a lot of privacy.
In the photos for this room, the kitchen looked to be a built in oven and stove top. The reality was a small electric oven with hot plates on top, sitting in a narrow and awkward cupboard next to the wardrobe. I think you would struggle if you were intending to cook a lot while you are there.
Note: The hotel is on a blind corner on a very busy road, so it will take effort to cross the road and there will be traffic noise. Lots of great...
Read moreI don't know how in the world Google has Elizabeth Suites rated as a two star hotel - it's much nicer than that! It's not what I would consider to be 5 star luxury, but the rooms are spotless, well maintained, and very nicely appointed. The staff is fantastic, the location is great, and it's a two minute walk to a nice sandy beach.
My family and I just spent a week in the Country Apartment at Elizabeth Suites and it surpassed all expectations. Within a few hours of booking, Epas (a fantastic host) reached out via e-mail and there was great communication prior to arrival.
Upon arrival, we found the grounds to be in great shape. The pool had a very private feel and is very peaceful. We got in the pool the first day and there was one other family in the pool. That was the only time the entire week that I noticed more than one group of people in the pool. Travelling in the days shortly after Greece opened up to foreign travel due to Covid, it was really nice to have some extra space.
The country apartment itself was spotless and larger than expected. The bedrooms are good sized, as was the kitchen, and there is a nice large living area too. We didn't actually use the living area much, because there's a great sitting area outside with nice pool views. The country apartment is also set well off the road, so it was very quiet.
I believe that most of the rooms at Elizabeth Suites have views of the sea. The Country Apartment doesn't, but a nice, sandy beach was a two minute walk, and other beaches are within a close walking distance as well.
Lastly, I cannot write a review without a huge thank you to Epas. He was a fantastic host, and the entire staff was terrific. Lots of little touches to make our stay feel special. Epas really went above and beyond reasonable expectations to make our stay great - he even was really helpful when we had...
Read moreFirstly Crete is a beautiful and large island with plenty to see and do, I would recommend a visit. The Elizabeth Suites are well appointed, comfortable and clean and suited our needs perfectly ( we were a family of 4 with two teenage children ). The apartments are located on a small quiet site with a large and deep private pool, very close to the beach with a large choice of restaurants on your doorstep, an easy and cheap bus into the centre to see the old town and Venetian harbour is also great with lots of choice of places to eat, drink or shop. We took the option for breakfast despite having self catering facilities in our apartment and it wasn't a disappointment. Breakfast consisted of just about anything you could imagine, lots of it, fresh and presented beautifully and with a few extras for later in the day - usually homemade cake! Epas took the opportunity every day to ask about our plans and experiences which was great and he gave us many good tips for places to go and things to see - this was another bonus of taking the breakfast. Epas also arranged transfers from the airport, a hire car and late checkout so we had the apartment until the moment we left for the airport. We had a great holiday and would highly recommend the Elizabeth Suites as a place to stay and we would return in...
