I would give 10 stars for this place if it was possible!!! If you’re a foodie like me, you’ll love this place! The menu has a fantastic selection of dishes and drinks( wine, cocktails, raki), and we loved everything we tried. If you haven’t tried dining at Roots - you missed the best part of Chania… words are not enough to describe how delicious are food and drinks made by Filip and the team! We came back 4 times to have dinner at Roots - and we were never disappointed. The chef is great, house wine is soft and fruity, and the desserts are just a heaven on the earth! I’m still dreaming about the grilled Octopus and Portocalepita!!! Each bite was a delight, and the presentation by Filip just blew us away. Don’t miss out on trying their mousaka, beef stifado and all other dishes! As for desserts, we tried both portocale pita and peanut butter cheesecake - HIGHLY RECOMMEND BOTH. The PORTOCALEPITA was a crowd-pleaser! We kept coming back for this dessert again and again. Grilled octopus is must have and the mousaka is literally the best mousaka in Greece!
Thanks Filip, Yuli and the Roots team from Alex and Farzana 🩵🩵🩵We can’t wait to come back...
Read moreMy friends and I discovered Roots by accident and let me just say that it's the greatest discovery we've ever made. The place looks amazing; it's cozy, cute and chill. Not only that, the white house wine is the best Greek wine we've had. And the food? I'd eat food cooked by Filip and his Chefs for breakfast, lunch, dinner and as a midnight snack. We tried everything on the menu and we were blown away by each dish. For dessert, you absolutely CANNOT go wrong with the Portokalopita! Some nice rakia, on the house, to finish it all off and you'll start planning your next dinners and late lunches at Roots for the rest of your stay in Daratsos. We went 4 times in 7 days and we would've gone even more times had we discovered Roots sooner. Also, Filip and Yuli were our servers and they made our experience at Roots that much better! They were very warm, kind and welcoming with us and told us a lot about the food we ate, when we asked about the local dishes we've had. We will be coming back again and again to Daratsos just to have dinner and a chat with the team at Roots. Filip,...
Read moreUsually, the tourists accommodated in Daratso drive to Chania for fine dinning experiences, which is not an easy task as it seems by looking at the map. Even if they manage to book a table at one of the super busy restaurants in the old city center, finding a parking spot is mission impossible, especially over the weekend. We discovered Roots by chance, as we returned late and hungry from a trip to Falassarna beach. The restaurant, located right next to our accommodation, was still open and got a table without reservation. We didn't expect the food to be so great, but when I tasted my grilled octopus with fava beans hummus and cherry tomatoes, I flew to the moon and back. The Greek salad was also delicious, as well as the grilled calamari with lentils. The wine, a local rosé, was a perfect match for all dishes (however, the entire wine list is interesting). Overall, a fine dinning dinner in Kato Daratso, above any...
