friendly service, but food leaves much to be desired in terms of taste and quality. I’m also surprised at the relative high cost. This is 15 euro which is proper restaurant price in Greece, at this humble eatery with heated up pre-made food which had sat there all day.
I wanted to ask for price after I ordered, but they asked me to eat first. I did so despite my usual caution (I usually don’t trust things I can’t see prices of) because they seemed to be friendly and Google said 5-10 euro per person. So when I asked to pay and was hit with the bill, it really left a sour aftertaste in me as the earlier talk with price can now be interpreted as intentional. Also no dessert or drink on house which seems to be the norm even for humble eateries here.
I don’t know where the good reviews come from, maybe from tourists who confuse humbleness with authenticity/local. You’re better off buying canned food from supermarket and heating up...
Read moreI had heard about this place from Alex Mark on Youtube, so I brought my wife here on our third day in Chania. We really enjoy small, out-of-the-way places, and this one did not disappoint. Here is where my wife discovered she loves stuffed tomatoes (gemiste). We were excited because they had everything, so we tried everything. Dolmades, Cretan salad, stuffed zucchini blossoms, tzatziki, moussaka, chicken. All of it was well-prepared, delicious, like eating in someone's home. One of the two ladies working behind the counter speaks English, you just let her know what you'd like, and she brings it to you. Thanks, Alex, for the tip, I'm glad we found this little gem. Highly recommend if you're looking for a home-cooked meal, and on top of everything else, the prices are...
Read moreI have eaten at this place three times. The price is very cheap, and the service is fast. However, they sell pre-made food, not restaurant food that's made on order. They cook all the food at lunch time, and keep selling them until the end of the day. If you want to have a decent dining experience, come by 1pm for lunch, and avoid going there for dinner, when all the food have been sitting there for at least a couple of hours and not exactly fresh. I can personally recommend their lamb and meat balls, which are well cooked and taste good. Avoid the calamari and stuffed tomatoes, these are not fresh and...
